My current HP survived 6 years of neglect and torture but I've heard similar HP hate before.... hmm....
Also anyone ever have any luck trying to go early with the flyer and getting the black friday price then? I'm thinking of trying to pull some sort of "I'm leaving to an internet-less camp" story cause I'm impatient.

HP is built by sub-contractors who had to bid for the contract. Therefore, many HP's are built as cheap and the sub-contractor can make.

Pentium i5 or i7 and not an i3
Memory is upgradable, but 8 is a good start.
HDD or SSD - SSD is always a good option, but you can get one separate. I have a 180GB for $50.00 if you want it. It's an Intel series.
Second HDD space - Storage is good, but not necessary. I need it as I have huge files that I work with.
Graphics Card:
With a Intel you want a GTX 950 or greater. Using Intel with GTX uses
cuda cores within the Graphics card and Nvidia pays developers to use them specifically. However, if you go AMD then use ATI graphics cards as they have their stream processors. In reality they are the same thing only different architecture and ATI uses openGL or openCL... One of those.
I'm sure others will chime in, and these are just the things I look for.
