I'm very confused as why the Flames would be interested in Robin Lehner or Cam Talbot
Thats 5 goalies we are talking about in (probably) another 1a 1b situation.
 Hiller
 Ramo
 Ortio
 Lehner
 Talbot

Assuming Brad doesn't ship off Ortio it will be
 1a --------
 1b Ortio

And after that I would rather have Karri Ramo over Lehner and somedays over Hiller. Talbot seemed to play very well but thats also considering the fact he had a presidents trophy team in front of him.
It really doesn't make sense that Treliving would make a risk like that bringing in, generally, unexpirienced goalies. Unless there is a bigger master plan Brad's cooking, I don't see the Flames trading to fix any problems in net, which isn't a big one.

This is not true. He signed as a 19 year-old in 2010, which means he was exempt for 5 years or 80 NHL games played. Five years have passed since he signed, and he has played in 88 NHL games.

Personally, I like the idea of bringing in Dubnyk as a UFA. I don't think you'd have to overpay as Calgary is his hometown.

I'm not saying that's a bad idea. It would just feel so wrong.

How so? Glencross was perfectly fine.

If anything, it would be great ENG fodder for at least a few years if we grabbed Dubnyk.

All these goalies (the ones we have and the ones we are talking about) are "average". I would not pay as much as a 2nd for any of them. You can pick one up off the scrap heap for free anytime. The Oilers will ditch Scrivens and we can bring him in and he will be just fine behind a good team. There are only a few guys like Price, Lundqvist, Quick - all the rest are average NHL goalies and there are more of them than there are jobs...

Dreger now says Cgy has "some interest" in Talbot:
 Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Should add Buffalo to the list of teams chasing Cam Talbot. Edmtn, Buf, SJ pretty eager. Dal, Fla and Cgy have some interest as well.

Probably meaning that Edmonton, Buffalo and San Jose have offered better picks/prospects for Talbot than Calgary.

Dreger said in his last tweet that Calgary was a frontrunner.

Now he's saying "some interest".

Nonis doesn't know as much as he used to. Maybe we can hire him as AGM and save Dreger's career?

Sorry but where did this "front runner" business for Talbot come from?
I'm having a hard time following I don't see that quote anywhere

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Cam Talbot is a hot commodity. Edmtn, Cgy, SJ, Dallas + Florida have expressed interest. Multiple trade offers. First 3 most likely targets. |

That's my guess. At the STH events this week, Treliving said that he's scheduled to talk to Ramo's agent this week.

If there are rumours out there that the Flames are looking at other goaltending options, it might be to let his agent know that they're not going to make a deal that doesn't make sense for the Flames.

It's like when there were rumours that the Flames were talking to LA about getting Ryan Smyth. Feaster's priority was to get Tanguay re-signed and used the Smyth rumour to help get it done.

It's also good to have irons in the fire if Ramo is asking for too much or wants a change of scenery.

I hope that our GM is just trying to increase goaltender's price to fool Oilers. When Oilers pay high price for Talbot we sell Hiller to Dallas or SJ for a little bit less.2 rabbits in one shot.

sounds like Vancouver would be really happy with a 2nd for Lack, setting up the fan base for a 3rd.

Where does Lack fit in with Talbot , Lehner and Ramo?

Lack played well enough to keep Vancouver in the playoffs after Miller got hurt.

Lack seems to be an easy going guy (sort of like Jamie McLennan) that would be a great backup to clear cut #1. But Kipper was a 26 year old #3 with less experience when the Flames got him for a 2nd round pick.

Don't thinks he works with the Flames as they are looking for a clear cut #1, but he crowds the market and will keep the price down.

so, to clarify, you think Dubnyk would sign in Calgary for, say, 3.5-4 (as an example) as opposed to San Jose for 5?

If this is what you are suggesting, you're delusional.

When Talbot does get dealt, I think it will be for a 2nd rather than a mid 1st round pick.
Dreger mentioned San Jose as an option on Lehner. They have called Ottawa about Anderson as well. Here in SJ it's been noted that Anderson is their preference out of the two.

Thats a good ball park. Wouldn't say much against that. Lehner may just command only a 2nd.
