what I really hate is the way they force you to buy a package tv plan. All I want is a few channels that I watch. why am I forced to get 100+ channels that I never watch?

I got my speeds throttled the first month I went over. I was only 10GB over with 4 days left in the billing month when my speeds were throttled. It was to the point that my work VPN connection wouldn't work.

I don't know exactly how it would work but I've heard the suggestion that you get a friend with Shaw to continue your e-mail account.

I have used a Shaw.ca email for about 10 years which was registered under my parents previous Shaw account. At one point they had closed their account for about 2 years but I always had access to the email address. I have always used their webmail to access the email address.

Had shaw all my life, based on the price increase I will absolutely evaluate and compare.
Also, the Shaw Gateway system is horrible. It's laggy and slow. Hate that I have invested so much in this equipment.

Eh whatever, I'm happy enough with Shaw.
I pay money each month.
I exceed my bandwidth "cap".
They never say anything about it.
Repeat.
Are they great, no, but they are acceptable, and I'll never give another dime of my money to Telus, so Shaw it is.

The Motorola PVR interface is pretty old and ugly looking, but it's the snappiest of all interfaces I've tried. I'm certainly happy with my current PVR and have no interest in moving to the Gateway system.

Love the gateway system because of the ability to record up to 6 HD streams at once. Um, that's about it. The guide is clunky and slooooooow. The redraws are painful. I really think they simply did not give this enough RAM to be able to handle what they are trying to push software wise.

The Telus Optik system wasn't any better when I used it. Extremely sluggish guide, 5 second pause between any button you push on the remote and the command actually happening, routinely getting digital video corruption on recorded shows. The Motorola PVR isn't very good itself, but it's better than the alternative

I admittedly haven't tried the Motorola one, I still have a Pace unit. I know for sure that the Pace interface is much crappier than what Bell was using for it's satellite guides even 5 years ago. No idea if those Bell guides have changed or improved in 5 years - but even if they haven't, they're infinitely better than the one on Shaw Pace.

Also switched to Telus. The guide, system, billing and performance is fantastic. No plans to ever switch back.

I'd rather be barrel rolled into a river by an alligator than deal with Bell again.

Can we at least change the title, Speeds are INCREASING NOT DECREASING.
Quote:
These new services will introduce faster download speeds and greater value for customers who have our most popular tiers by providing more value per Mbps (Megabits Per Second) download rate.
- HS 10 improves to Internet 15
- HS 25 improves to Internet 30
- BB 50 improves to Internet 60

No one truly know what Shaw is doing, including their employees. Based in the updated prices the new regular price of BB50 (soon to be Internet 60, if that memo is stretching the truth) is 85. Which is almost the old price of BB100. Based on that alone I would disagree with Shaw and your assertion that speed are increasing.

Called to cancel our cable tv subscription a week ago. Turns out, we were on an old internet plan and upgraded that. We were paying the same as HS 25 with a lower download speed and a much lower bandwidth cap. Thanks, Shaw!
If anyone wants some old HD Motorola boxes or that Pace PVR expander thing for cheap, let me know.
