Didn't get to see any of this one but is becoming concerning that out worst stretch of the year is when the vets started coming back. Coincidence or not, we better figure this out quick, if we want to believe we're a legit playoff contender.

Besides Colborne, the returning guys barely played... they are all on the 4th line.
Honestly, I get it. I used to get really angry when the Flames would lose as well, but decided I didn't like the person I became when that happened.
I had to stop watching Flames games when I was with my girlfriend during that time because I would get angry and was frankly embarrassed that she had to see me that way. I felt that I was acting childish and didn't want another person seeing me behave that way.
If you just enjoy the games in terms of entertainment and have fun when the team succeeds, you'll be much better off IMO.

I can honestly say I'm entertained, mind you I only watched the 3rd. But from what I saw I loved it, it was fast paced and there were chances all over.
I'm not even sure what we're debating about here, why I'm not angrier? They'll be fine, they're a bunch of kids who worked their asses off and entertained me. I don't expect them to go 82-0?
I dunno. Not sure what to say. If they don't make playoffs who cares? They'll make it next year?
Does this rebuild seriously have you worried? If so why? Everything is pretty kickass as a Flames fan right now. I don't really get what the issue is here.

The goal is not solely on him....his D men were being overly aggressive at a time in the game that didn't need it.
Yes they were being outplayed and had an opportunity, but 1-1 against Chicago with 6+ mins left is no time to be sending both D men deep.
I never said it was solely on him, you stated that it "wasn't his fault". There are a lot of contributing factors and more than just one person to blame on every goal, he was the main factor in that goal against.

I'm not worried, the rebuild is going very well but I think we dropped some needless points in the past few games. I'm annoyed at the loss and because we didn't deserve to lose 5 in a row. But it put a bit of a dent in our playoff hopes.
I'm pissed off that a 5 game losing streak is going to prove all the naysayers right until the Flames win a few. Let's face it, they should have won at least two of these games. It is frustrating.
The Flames had won 4 in a row. Now they've lost 5 in a row. They'll come back and win a few, you watch.
I don't give a #### what "naysayers" say.
The rebuild is going well, everyone buys into the system, and generally everyone works pretty hard. We have a grade A prospect not even playing yet, the cupboards are full of great prospect depth.
We have a starting goalie that I believe if he can get on a hot streak can be a Cup winning goalie.
We have the best defenceman in the game right now.
We have one of the best coaches.
We have solid management and what seems like an excellent plan / vision.
I'm not mad at the losses, I'm just going to watch it all unfold but I'm not blind to the fact that this can all get far wose by the end of the month. There's STILL the Rangers, Stars, Canucks and Kings to go before a respite game against the Oilers.
I figured if the Flames came out with at least points against Buffalo and Toronto things would stay afloat though this patch of games.
The S.S good times is taking on water.
That being said, I don't really care how the Flames end up in the standings as long as the effort and a noticeable step forward in team development is there. So far it is but the real test is proving they can get out of this slump before the gimme game in EDM. I hope to see this.
Stop watching then, clearly your expectations for this team are out of whack and it's ridiculous that you are doing anything other than berating yourself for your own misplaced desires.
On the game: This one stung a little as I was sure we were in the middle of Hiller steal 2.0 just before the goal happened. Would be easier to shake off if not for the 4 similarly frustrating games preceding it. The pace of the game (for the most part) was fantastic and exciting. Chicago had the better of the zone time, especially in the third obviously, probably because Toews, Kane and Keith are amazing hockey players and the supporting cast of Sharp, Hossa, Seabrook, Saad, Versteeg, even Richards, Hjammer is basically unmatched league-wide. We looked like the second-best team out there because, at this point in time, we are.
On the last goal (Gaudreau): Likely a tough one for Gaudreau to swallow. Sucks for the kid because it happened while doing what he does best. He'll bounce back, I wouldn't change the way he played it mostly because I know nothing.
On the last goal (Gio): Sure, you can look back and say they shouldn't be that aggressive late in a tie game. For me, it looked like it was only a matter of time before the 'Hawks scored one, so I have zero problem with the defense jumping up there, trying to create a break. Most of the time, Gaudreau makes a play and we're looking at a great scoring chance. The way Hartley has the D playing has allowed the Flames to lead the league in defensive scoring. These types of quick turnaround chances will happen as a by-product.
On the 'vet curse': Purely coincidence for me. Can't see how Knight in for Stajan, Baertschi in the Raymond and Ferland in for Colborne makes any serious impact on any of these last games. Convenient point of contention for fans who (not wrongly) love to see the rookies play. Colborne I thought had his best game back. He's at his best forechecking and using his body to protect the puck. Him and Byron make a good tandem on the forecheck IMO. Raymond I'm not seeing where the hatred is coming from. Off the top of my head I remember a great defensive play using his body to start a breakout, and a couple loose pucks picked up in the offensive zone turned into quick, hard, low wrist shots. Didn't notice any glaring mistakes from him or Stajan.
On the losing streak: 5 close games. 4 in which the Flames were arguably the better team. All of which the Flames had a good chance of collecting points. Can't be too mad when thinking about the bigger picture, which is that a team in rebuild year 2 is still in the playoff picture and has a good record and goal differential after losing 5 straight in regulation. I'm impressed! Coming home will have never felt so good for this team. Jay Feaster tweeted it best when he said Hartley's formula for coming home from a road swing needs to be bottled and sold, so I'd be shocked if this streak goes any further.
it was interesting at the start of the game, where the flames were playing the hawks at top speed, you just knew that pace couldn't keep up. i thought the flames got worked by a very hungry blackhawk team, and until the 3rd period, it was close.
the 3rd period was like a hawks powerplay for 20 straight minutes.
Gaudreau had his amazing moments again, and the mistake made on the game losing goal is something that is going to happen every once in a while, and i'm ok with that. I really wish he'd shoot more though. players with his skill level need to shoot in order to keep defenders and goalies honest. that will only open things up even more for him going forward.
hard to see the team lose 5 in a row. They're probably landing closer to where they should and that is in that 8-10th spot in the west, and all things considered, it's still going to be a solid year given the development of many of the kids, and even better if they can still create assets out of this somehow.
