Oh please. That would be the sweetest of revenges. His dad would absolutely flip.

Aaron Portsline says his biggest strength is his defensive play. How many times have you watched him play? Because for me, its zero. I have no idea what he plays like. I just wonder why you say he sucks defensively, whereas the beat guy for Columbus whose seen him play probably a lot more than you, contradicts what you're saying. Are you saying he sucks defensively just because you're assuming so?

Anismov did just come back from a concussion. Not a good injury for the future, especially with the Oilers' crack medical staff.

From just stat watching, Sutter is 6 goals and 5 assists in 20 games. I think Goc would move up as the 3rd line center and Sill would take the 4th line center role.

it would be epic and sooooo ironic to see a D pairing Schultz-Erixon in Edmonton. Two little rats being a key part of the suckiest team in the league. Please make it happen!

I believe in the Jays.
|
Hope it doesn't happen.
One of the Oilers many mistakes was entrusting 2nd line duty to an 18 year old. Anisimov isn't a guy you ideally want doing that longterm but he'll do in a pinch. I don't want to see the Oilers correcting a mistake (even one that drains their depth elsewhere).

Dreger says the Blue Jackets want Perron+ for Anisimov
Quote:
“And you can understand why Jarmo Kekalainen and John Davidson would show interest in David Perron. They had him on the St. Louis Blues. And obviously the Edmonton Oilers need a centre. I just can’t believe the Columbus Blue Jackets would make that deal one-for-one. So maybe that’s what holding it up. They’re probably looking for, if not a little bit more, maybe even a lot more from the Edmonton Oilers to close on that deal. But that’s one of many irons that Craig MacTavish has in the fire.”

I cannot imagine a more poetic slice of justice than to see Erixon end up in Edmonton and have his fledgling career die a slow painful death in the most toxic and depressing atmosphere in the league.
Good times!

Basically Columbus is telling Edmonton that they're under no pressure to make the deal because Anisimov is still a good player for them at a key position. So if you want him prepare to pay a lot because Edmonton is desperate to get Perron out of town and desperately need a center and they need to do something to get the fans off of their backs.
The problem now is that every GM is pretty smart with the exception of Mac-T (Go Ocelots go) and they know how to read the tea leaves, and they know that they can press Mac-T for that little bit extra to get them to consider a deal.

Pretty much the first intelligent thing from Dreger, ever. Why would Columbus make this move, unless they can really bend Edmonton over? Their season has been derailed because of injury, but they aren't in a position of weakness. Their centre spot and prospect depth is in decent shape. They should extract more than Perron, becuase the oilers are, and hopefully will always be, in a position of weakness.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Artem Anisimov: Top Line Centre.
I look forward to this trade being made, and seeing Oilers fans line up at the Rexall concourse to throw rotten eggs at MacT for failing to live up to a promise he couldn't have possibly delivered.
