No....my question was....does anybody know what scout was behind finding Jooris? Who saw something in him?
|
If I recall correctly it was the same guy that found Harrison. Don't know his name off the top of my head though.

Interesting fact Addessa coached Jooris' father in the NCAA.

Trades would be much more difficult if you couldn't. Quite often a rookie will need to change his number after the deadline if a veteran is brought in who traditionally wears the same one

Bollig - Bouma - Jooris
perfect 4th line in the modern NHL - they have size, can skate well, are solid defensively and can play up the lineup if needed.

I am starting to think Josh Jooris is not just good, but someone the Flames need to lock up for a good few years. Prototype 2nd line forward IMO.

His efforts on the 5 on 3 pk last night were amazing. He may have an off night in one aspect of his game but certainly makes up for it in others on the same night.

The biggest thing I've noticed about him is he drives the play for the majority of the time he's on the ice. Every time. He is the exact opposite of a passenger. Nobody wants the puck more than Josh Jooris and that, combined with his natural skill (which is off the charts compared to what I thought it would be) is why he's having great success right now.

He seems to be taking major strides becoming a good two way center. That would be an awesome surprise.

I think Locke said it best... He is balls to the walls insane. That kind of grit makes the WHOLE team better because other players on the team want to match his intensity.
If he keeps bringing it every day like he has so far then he will be a key piece of this team. IF he can stay healthy with his style of play.
All I know for sure is that it is a pleasure to watch the tenacity this team displays on a nightly basis.

I really don't like Bollig so I'd go
Bouma-Backs-Jooris as my optimal fourth line. Incredibly defensive sound and with JJ and Backs can drive possession and create some offense with Bouma having the great shot and no one wants Bouma/Jooris forechecking on them.

Jooris I think can play on line 2-4. He can check, yet has scored quite a few. Line 2-3 would be best. Don't want to waste him (or other talented guys) on the 4th line though unless we want to be done with truculence and employ more of a speed/grinding 4th line.

Jooris isn't what I would call talented, besides his great speed his success has come from pure determination to remain an NHLer. If he doesn't play like that he suddenly becomes an AHL player. I wished some of that would rub off on Sven, but to be fair I don't think his body would hold up playing a style like Jooris.

Backs is more than a 4th line C at this point.

I could say the same about Jooris, he doesn't seem like a 4th liner to me either. I think in a couple of years, Arnold will take that 4C spot. Jooris is more of a 3rd line C/RW.

As we aren't the Kings or Blackhawks, there is no way Jooris is a 4th liner.
I appreciate that some of CP remembers Backs as an offensive threat - but that isn't actually the case here.
Jooris can produce offensively as well as play more than adequate on the other end. He will not become a 7min per night player so we can have more backs and Stajan....

No surprise hearing that Josh Jooris has been told to find a permanent residence in Calgary. He's been great.

I think people are saying that when/if we DO become a Blackhawks, that Jorris would be a great 4th liner. And I will again preface this by saying that I don't believe in 1st-4th lines, I believe in a balanced attack with SOME bias towards higher talents with certain groups and the "bottom" group gets about 10 minutes. But really, having a balanced group lets you send out whoevers earning it, not whoevers best. Having the ability to throw out Byron, Jooris and Ferland on a PP because they are having a great game is a good thing. But that is likely a "4th line" on a top team. If Jooris can be a guy like a Sammy Paulssen/Stephane Yelle, I think that's what people are envisioning.
Anything over an above that is gravy. In fact, it's gravy already.

I agree with this. Plus, we already look like a team that can roll out 4 lines, maybe the top 9 more than the 4th, but that's besides the point.
Jooris is a steal, and I definitely see him as a middle 6 winger that can put up 40-60 points on a yearly basis. Maybe a poor man's Justin Williams (I certainly hope so).
