Johnny played his best game yet, was hoping he would get another 2-1 so he could finally shoot after passing the first 3 times.
I actually really liked Jones tonight, strong first game back and was noticeable because he was throwing his weight around and winning puck battles. When he plays like that he's the type of player that is incredibly valuable, especially on this team.
Also liked the Habs commentary between the benches, I think it makes the conversation flow better and the whole broadcasting team did a great job of criticizing and complementing both teams when appropriate. Sportsnet gets a lot of things wrong, but they have done some good things this season.

Otherwise great game tonight.

Paul Byron is the most guilty of this lately. So many prime chances and a very low successful hit the net ratio. If that kid learns how to finish consistently, he'd be a big time gamer.

Great game to watch, very entertaining. Gio stopped the puck before it crossed the blue line, it wasn't offside, right? Johnny G brings a lot to the game.....always watching him to see what he'll come up with.

When you compare the ice time of the two players, it makes Gaudreau's numbers even more impressive.

Yeah I saw that. Off a monster Wideman slapper too. It looked painful but he kept playing on the shift.

McGrattan on the ice would have led to either more PPs for them or less possession for us. Nothing else

Well, Gio and Brodie are on a different planet than the other 4 guys right now, they look like they could play the whole game. Russell and Wideman both played quite a bit of PP, so if the top 4 are playing all the PP and most of the even strength minutes there's not much left. I'll call out Smid and Englland if they look terrible or scre up, but they were ok, which is all you can ask of your 5/6 guys. They were fine.

just got home from the game. awesome, awesome time. gaudreau was once again dangerous everytime he had the puck, love it when he plays like that. felt like we had great possession throughout the game and both teams played a full 60 minutes. sucks that we had to lose it in the shootout but boy that was some entertaining hockey. if we could have capitalized on one of those pp's we could have had it in the bag.

I could go and read the game talk but was everyone's feed back to last year's commentary ahead of the play? While I gave SN props on the commentary job tonight, the audio sync was frustrating.

I remember cheering for the Blackhawks against the habs in 1970-71 Stanley cup finals...
been hating on the habs for 45 years.
Besides "86" and "89" losses - I'm feeling kinda bitter about this one.
Gaudreau is so exciting - upside is unbelievable.
Can't think of a Flames player who was disappointing tonight.

The thought of Gaudreau and Bennett on the same line 5 years from now is giving my heart palpitations.

I feel there is a need to upgrade the top 6 with a goal scorer on the wing. Byron isn't cutting it and isn't putting the puck in the net. Might be hard to find a scorer at this time.

Just got back from the game, not even mad they lost.
What a game!
For that split moment in the s/o it was almost perfect Johnny scoring on his first chance.
That game felt like a playoff atmosphere.

With (god forbid if he gets it together) a Sven-Monahan on the second line with a mix of Poirer, Ferland, and Colborne will be sweet.

I was really impressed with Jones tonight, my dad and I kept a running tally on positives/minuses of his during the whole game and thought he basically finished the night with a +7 in terms of making the smart play, generating chances, finishing his checks, etc.
I thought Glenny was quite good too, even though he's the new whipping boy. He had at least 3 great deflections on the PP in front of the net, and was making some good passes to set up the trailing D on other offensive rushes.
But Gaudreau... what can you say? Much wow.

Once Gaudreau learns to finish, and he will, he will be dangerous.

Hartley continuing to play the "first pp unit" over the "second pp unit" very well may have cost the Flames the game.

That twerp Gallagher really is a twerpish little twerp. Giving that stupid smirk of his to Brodie in OT was just ridiculous.
I hope he said something like "what are you grinning at now you little twerp?, It's overtime and you haven't done anything all night".
I find it quite entertaining when he does it to the Leafs, but man, if the Flames had to play him all the time, someone would have to go after his knees Tinordi-style.
And I gotta admit I've never been much of a "believer" in Johnny Hockey there, but I'm convinced now. Nearly every time he does something with the puck on his stick I think "I didn't expect him to do that". Good for us.

I was only able to catch the SO, but I noticed that I could hear "save" as the player was in the process of shooting.
I'm not usually one to complain about production quality, but there seems to be at least one thing wrong every single SN game. Eventually they gotta get it together...
