Fighting after a hard battle should be okay as far as I am concern. Two players getting physical at each other and need to blow off steam. Staged fight on the other hand has no purpose especially in junior hockey. I mean best time to get rid of the staged fight. Another thing they should get rid off are goons who has no business in hockey. Goons that are chasing players trying to pick fight. So, i think banning fighting 100% in junior hockey is stupid. Might as well play shinny hockey and ban hitting as well.

I don't disagree that impulse fighting should stay. Because I enjoy watching fighting. Not because I think it serves a higher purpose like preventing cheap shots.

I don't agree that no fighting equals shinny. There are lots of examples of physical sports without fighting.

But it doesn't matter. Writing is on the wall. Players make too much money and there have been too many incidents at every level. That days of routine fighting in hockey are numbered.

We need civilian militia as a deterrent in society too. Keeps crime down

Perhaps, but I'd wager that Cooke thinks twice before puttin' his hand in Evander Kane's cookie jar.

Like it or not, fighting does have a significant impact on the game. Just ask John Tortorella.

I'm sure Cooke's thought it - well i'm not going to fight that guy again.... hasn't stopped him from being dirty.

Tortorella's problem was the reaction to it all. It was shown countless times during the year that if you just ignore the 4th line guys starting and go with a normal line, nothing will occur. He was goading into a wang waving contest and couldn't resist partaking.

Yes, an attempted fight that helped push his team into an epic collapse is definitely a cogent argument to keep fighting.

Look I enjoy watching a spirited fight. But the evidence is mounting that the potential harm isn't worth it imo.

Not arguing for or against fighting, but those who say it has no impact on the game don't have a grasp of the facts. The landscape of the NHL would be quite different without fighting. The Canucks quite possibly make the playoffs this year without fighting. The Sedins might already have four cups. Maybe the game would be better without fighting, maybe it wouldn't, but it would be changed.

The Canucks are going to learn how to score if fighting isn't allowed?
