I lost one early in the winter as well. It was a sad day. Took me weeks to figure out where all the glass on my driveway was coming from

They just finished in front of my house, they didn't tow any vehicles but thankfully all of my neighbors had moved theirs.

This doesn't effect me, but the logic is crimping my mind. Also, it's been a long winter. They need to get out there and paint some lines. Especially at pedestrian crosses.
They use the time Deerfoot is closed for more than just street sweeping...we're talking light repairs (those median lights between Glenmore and Memorial are a pain in the ass to fix), painting, barrier repairs, you name it. IIRC, it was usually 9 PM - 5 AM that they did this and not shorter windows you were mentioning. If the times are varying it's probably only because of crew availability and weather being fine for some but not others.

Well the amazing city planners scheduled our street cleaning on our garbage pick-up day, so of course there are blue and black bins out on the street for the cleaning tomorrow (apparently we're supposed to leave them on the driveway or sidewalk but not many people seem to have got that message).

I couldn't find an existing thread so I'll piggy-back in this one:

Now that spring is here, is it acceptable to sweep the dirt and rocks accumulated from the winter from your garage and driveway into the street for the city's street sweepers to take care of it?

Have also seen city crews sweeping dirt and rocks from boulevards and medians into the street but thought I'd ask as it might be different for residential streets.

I always have. I'll usually sweep the garage and scoop up the rocks and misc debris and then sweep the tiny stuff down and out on the road.

I can't imagine the volume of dirt is much that it would impact the cleanings, and thus, enough for anyone to really care about. I'm sure there is some bylaw preventing putting refuse or fill from your property onto the street that would prevent it, but I can't see any harm.

Seriously, just start a new bloody thread. I wasted time reading about 15 comments before realizing this thread is over a year old.

As to your question, it is illegal to shovel snow into the roadway, and I wouldn't be surprised if it s the same to shovel dirt and debris as well. Course, it isn't like anyone's going to call you out on it either.

The gravel in your garage probably came from the cities roads anyway so you may as well sweep it back out into the alley/street. What else are you going to do? Throw it away? Gravel being collected by the city and reused next year seems like a better option than more waste going to the landfill.
