I can't tell where the curb is in that photo. Regardless though, I doubt anyone sub-contracted that out. I also have my doubts that a small business owner was just bored.

We are also all experts on all subjects and know better than anyone that does any job.

There could have been some kind of storm water issue there with someone's snow pile blocking drainage. Who knows. I assume nothing until I get to talk to someone who makes these types of decisions for a living.

Any updates on if the city is still planning to cutback on the sweeping?

They came thru and did the main streets in our area today...well most of the road I guess, I'd say 75% maybe. No signs up or anything so there were still a bunch of cars they had to sweep around. Didnt seem to do any side streets at all.
Does it make any sense to do part of it but then have to come back at another time?

Cleaned my own street today. Wasn't hard at all. Took me 45 minutes to do about 100 feet on one side though didn't touch the opposite end where there are no houses anyway.

I do the same thing and noticed a few neighbours doing it also. Nobody wants to wait for street cleaning.

My residential side street was cleaned yesterday. No parking signs were put up on Monday and they did a nice job polishing in front of my house. Now, if only they could do our alley. I'm not sure what the deal with our street is but we seem to get some pretty decent service. They did a nice job clearing our street in the winter and I was surprised to see them cleaning our street so quickly. Our street is not a main street or anything but rather just a quiet, residential crescent.

There is a link up on the cities website where you can check to see when your street is being cleaned.

Apparently mine is this week, would have been good to know in advance. No signage out at all.

Looks like the cutbacks are on the signage.

They have done some of the main streets in our neighbourhood and it was a pretty piss poor job. There are some stretches where there is about a 2 foot strip from the sidewalk into the road that was just no cleaned...

I live on a main drag so I think that's why I'm up so fast. I'm glad though, the landscapers power raked all the gravel from the boulevard onto the road and it's a motorcycle death trap.

I think this thread would be better if the title was "sweeping street sweeping cutbacks"

Water was flowing freely under the snowpile, no lake in front of my driveway.

Yeah it sucks to get the June draw. It's a long time to have all the winter gravel on your streets. There has to be a better, more efficient way for the city to do it. I fully realize it takes considerably longer to clean the streets than to sand them but the city can sand pretty well the entire city in a day yet takes at least three months to clean the streets.

Does anyone else find it odd that they have to shut deerfoot northbound from Anderson to 17th avenue to clean from 9 pm until 12 am for a couple days? Didn't they used to do this at 3am - 5am.

This doesn't effect me, but the logic is crimping my mind. Also, it's been a long winter. They need to get out there and paint some lines. Especially at pedestrian crosses.
