Hopefully, this is just Feaster heraing that guys like Seguin, Erik Johnson, and Hedman are available and letting other teams know he is open to negotiation. That is what a good GM should do. If he's actively pursuing a guy like O'Reily or Krejci....help us all.

I think there is something to be said for having our own players developed by the Flames. Ignoring his injury issues, would a player like Seguin even want to be here while we're rebuilding.

If he gets a big piece going forward then I say do it. Even if we draft at six we don't have a guarantee they will be a #1 center or a top pairing D-man.

As much as I would like to see this team go the slow development route, I don't think I want to watch 3-5 seasons of bottom of the barrel hockey. I doubt if anyone here could actually stomach that whole-heartedly. If you can be more competitive sooner while still filling the same holes on the team that you would through the draft...do it.

I'm nervous, but at the same time, it can't hurt to listen, can it?

One of many I'm sure partially informed and purposely planted rumors. I'll save getting worked up, either way, for when (if?) something Actually happens.

Clearly all gms are testing waters and trying to gauge and set values. Save the dramatic reactions for when something Acutally goes down.

Adding an obligatory "this scares me" and "blah blah feaster blah blah fire blah idiot blah overweight" because that seems to be the thing to do.

Feaster would not be doing his job if he didn't listen to offers. Everyone got mad when he said he didn't listen to offers for Glenny so now he listens to offers and everyone freaks out.

I'm going to not blow a spaz until something (if anything is done). But based on the players that will likely be available a 6, does anyone actually believe that pick should be "untouchable"? Logically the answer has to be no, but the price better be right.

I'm not going to waste any energy worrying about a hypothetical trade Feaster hasn't made yet, because all people are doing worrying about this now is getting mad that the Flames haven't declared the #6 untouchable. But in reality, making the #6 in this years draft untouchable would be bad management.

There are probably a lot of teams who would be bidding, that gives the negotiating power to BOS.

I didn't get mad about not listening to offers for Glenny. There are some players you are willing to move and others you are not.

Not sure how you compare the 2?

Glencross is 30 and will be long gone by the time the flames can take a run.

The #6 spot is something you grow with for that run.

If Feaster can get a #1 young center for #6 straight across then sure. Unfortunatley i don't see many teams wanting to give up that young center other than Boston, and they will want more than #6.

If CP doesn't blow up after the Draft, I'll be shocked. There will be some support base, be it Monahan, Lindholm, Petan...somebody will be upset at every draft pick.

I imagine the Flames are getting a lot of offers for #6 and they had to put something out there as to what it would take. That said I still hope we keep #6 unless it's too good to pass up.

4 straight years out of the playoffs with the team trying for quick fixes. 3-5 seasons of bottom of the barrel hockey are the reality no matter what as there is not quick fix when you have a roster that lacks talent like the Flames do. If you can't stomach bad hockey you aren't going to like the immediate future regardless of what the Flames do this weekend. At least the rebuild through the draft route has been proven by franchises like the Penguins, Hawks, Capitals, Senators, St. Louis, Anaheim, etc that have used the draft to build competitive teams. When has quick fix building ever worked out for a team?

@ Estrada

Fair enough. I don't disagree that it's probably the right thing to do, but I'm ok with trading 1 pick and maybe a prospect for a guy that can a piece to build around. I'm not sure Seguin is that guy, but if you can get an elite player (unlikely I know), then you should try without giving up too much of the future. I could stomach losing the #6 pick for a true #1 center.

Some of you over react way too much to the rumor mill.

What you need to do, is step away from the speculation, turn off twitter (if you have it) and make sure you have text messages from TSN set up.

Then just go out, enjoy the nice summer weather, and wait for a text to come through to your phone from TSN when an actual trade happens.

That way you don't have to ride the inevitable rumor roller coaster that goes with this time of the year.
