56 and 57 in career points respectively!

...
56 Daniel Alfredsson OTT R 1995-1996 2012-2013 1,178 426 682 1,108 +153 500 131 25 69 7 4 3,320

Alfredsson has had a great career and is a great player. Honestly I have no problem with someone if they picked him over Iginla, especially if they're a Sens fan. That's fine, I totally understand that.

The thread starters way of getting his point across and the way he doesn't know even the "facts" he presents is what makes this thread hilarious.

Brodie = Karlsson?
Alfredsson only signing one-year deals the past four years?

Hilarious

I guess a season of Tanguay with 50 assists and Cammy had one good year makes up for 2 seasons of Yashin at over a PPG, 5 seasons of Hoosa (excluded his rookie year), 7 seasons of Spezza (excluded rookie and this year) and 4 seasons of Heatley.

But you are right those two (maybe 3) good seasons of Tanguay and Cammilieri sure are comparable to guys with multiple 100 point seasons.

Did Alfie ever play on a team where the goalie won the Vezina?
Not 100% but I think it is fairly safe to say yes.

What superstars did Alfredsson play with this season?
The same level of superstars as Iginla did with a very hot goalie that carried them into the play-offs and Alfie ended up with a less impressive personal season. But I guess if your point is Alfie got the better goalie this year then yippee.

I know one thing for sure, Iginla would never throw in the towel down 3-1. Iginla would never publicly state his team is doomed.

The worst thing about threads like these and the ridiculous accusations and false facts by posters is that Alfredsson becomes a villian when he's in fact a great player and a classy one just like Iginla is.

I'd take Iginla over Alfredsson, but that's no slight to Alfredsson he was a heck of a player too.

This. is. a. great. post.
WTF? Iggy didn't bail on the Flames. Over 80% of the Flames fans wanted him traded for a rebuild. If he's not wanted on the team, I really don't blame him to choose the team where he's got a high chance of winning the cup. It was the organization that asked him to waive his no trade clause. But if the fans wanted him to stay and retire here as a Flames, I think Iggy would have done so. He'll go where he's wanted and needed.

If I had to choose between the two players, there's no doubt I'd choose Iggy over Alffy any day.

He said it was unlikely they would win. Which is true. He didn't say they couldn't.

Hockey players who are honest and candid instead of making the same vacant platitudes over and over and over again earn bonus point in my books.

Ha. Honest and candid is one thing. When you're the captain and you say your team is unlikely to come back from a 3-1 deficit, it is another thing entirely. Not even close, really.

Yeah, definitely should have said one of the following:

"the pressure is now on them "
" we just have to play our game"
"we're in a must win"
"have to leave it all on the ice"

That would have made people respect him.

Can't imagine the heat Iginla, or anyone, would take here if they said something like that when facing elimination.

I'm all for avoiding the usual cliches but the only other option isn't to say something demoralizing and stupid.

Well it sure as #### wouldn't have made people disrespect him, that's for sure. I don't understand how this is even an argument.
