I can't imagine that game is played. Transport will likely be all but shut down and police resources are already going to be thin, bringing people into downtown Boston is a terrible idea. It's also just not appropriate to play mere hours after something like this.

Counter terrorism/bomb squad saying multiple devices and two exploded (no idea if multiple means more than 2 but it seems likely). edit: per above post multiple does mean more than the 2 that exploded.
The bomb sqaud is detonating things in a controlled manner.
I would imagine they have to cancel the game tonight, or play it without crowd if there is no chance to reschedule.
The fire at the JFK library was coincidental and due to mechanical issue.

Kim Il-Sung's birthday is today. I'd still bet on domestic terrorist's, but if it was N Korea related, that would not be good.

My first guess too. This bombing conincides with gun control debates. Seems like a Timothy McVeigh type of incident to me.

I don't get it. How do they wind up locating additional bombs? One goes off, suddenly within minutes they find a couple other and set them off? Isn't that a bid strange?

Not saying it isn't easy, and personally we have every right to be afraid but we have to rise above that and not react as a collective to policies and practices that lock us down, removes our liberties, scapegoats groups of people, turns us more reactive and violent, and generally despoils our civic fabric. If that happens then the terrorists win.

Okay now you're getting carried away if you suspect North Korea.

Not really...You can bet that they had every bomb sniffing dog and every available cop out looking for additional explosives.

Not really. They probably immediately began searching for additional explosives and cleared all the people out.

They're trained to look for more when things like this happen. If two went off, they would have had lots of cops looking for more so it doesn't happen again.

No way. If that's North Koreas opening volley, that would be just an absurd way to do it.

MillerTime, I hope your dad's ok.
Hubby's workmate has a friend that was running that marathon - none of them had heard about the explosions yet. Just sent him all the information/links/phone numbers so that the guy can check on him.

It will be interesting to see how fast the media comes out and pins the bombings on some political group within the U.S.
If not, ....Iran did it.

Also want to say that knowing a bunch of first responders who were involved with the Joplin tornado...avoid contacting people in the area via cell phone. They need to be able to use the the networks and actually in many cases the networks will be turned by the providers to the first responders so you can't get through anyways (which then only manages to panic people and tie up the networks more).
