31 goals, 81 points in his third year, not a break out?

You should compare the skill level of the line mates in order to justify the point comparison. Also, ppg when playing 50 games a year, iggy wasn't hurt every couple of months.

But when we talk about management we can't compare to the Flames?

Flames suck, flames mgmt suck, every thread here is stating more or less the same.
Oilers suck worse despite all these oiler fans and media creaming themselves over a pretty craptastic roster. It is ok, I would be an upset fan knowing that my team drafted the wrong top pick 3 years in a row too. So go ahead, tell me more about how bad the flames mgmt is.....

Not in your passive-aggressive, wussy-footing way, no. You brought up the comparison randomly, to troll. I know you're going to play innocent now, as you normally do but stop the act.
You've managed to muddle up the discussion and drag it into the mud as you always do, deflect it away from the topic at hand. Congrats.

Oh mmf always with the troll card. So predictable.
Oilers are going to be bad until they get rid of Management. And who knows when that will be.

Trolling is anything negative against the Calgary Flames.
I am seriously curious as to where you see the pressure mounting from. The media in Edmonton rolls over for the Oilers all the time. Fans pack the place every night, where is the pressure going to mount from?

The only way I see Lowe going anywhere is when/if Nicholson steps down from Hockey Canada, and Lowe takes that over. Lowe got that in thanks to Wayne in 2002 and has somehow stuck in there since, getting close to Nicholson.
He had 29 owners, and then replaced by a owner who adored the Boys on the Bus, so he's been untouchable. Lowe's put levels between him too; his one year only as a head coach way back when was a clear sign of that, as was moving himself up the ladder with bringing in Tambelleni. However, he's the one responsible for the very poor reputation the Oilers have in the UFA market when he was GM, and the UFA's are key to supplementing the young talent. Untiil he goes, that reputation doesn't change.

No trolling is when he says it solely as a shot to the members on this board and it has nothing to do with the topic at all.

Hawks were basically the islanders or jackets for a long, long time. They missed the playoffs 9 out of 10 years before they took off.
They were irrelevant for a decade.

They could be in trouble for quite awhile.
Consider:
* Even if Tambellini was fired, MacTavish will be the next GM. What does that change?
* Even if they decided to trade one of their top young players in exchange for some help in different areas, their pro scouting is so bad and so inept that it would probably just end up making the team worse.
* The team has no prospects who will end up playing in the NHL with the only exception being Oscar Klefbom. Amazing that only three years ago they had three second-round picks (Marincin, Hamilton, Pitlick) and all three are already busts/marginal players.

different era, different type of team, I could go on. Oilers put up huge points playing fire wagon hockey with no expectation to win...you have to lock it down somewhat if you want to win in this league. PPG isn't that great when you lose 6-4 every night. Now the Oilers are trying to win and can't score a goal to save their lives.
nobody is saying the Flames are great, the Oilers just haven't finished above them in a decade...surely we deserve to make fun of them for that

Not superstar territory. This year he's on pace for what? 90-100 points in an 82 game season. Hall is having a similar third season as Tavares thus far. He's on a ppg pace.

The kids read their own press and are happy basking in it.
Will be interesting to see them grow up when the media turns on them soon.

You have to go beyond the stats and look at how JT makes those around him better. His third season was absolutely a superstar breaking out

No there won't. The disappointment of another failed season will quickly be forgotten when the biggest day of the year for Oilers fans rolls around in July and they make their annual 1st pick in the draft and soak up all the positive media of the special team they are building and how this latest addition will put them over the top. Oilers fans and media will get drunk with the Kool-Aid all summer while even some media will again get tricked into thinking that the flawed team team is just one more top junior player away from becoming a force in the NHL. It's an annual cycle that doesn't change.
