That's what I said in the other thread, it's not necessarily Feasters fault, but whoever's job it was to look into stuff like this needs to be fired ASAP. If Feaster didn't have someone looking into clauses like this, he needs to go because it's now his fault.

The only person who looks stupider than Feaster in this mess is Greg Sherman, the Avs GM. If the facts as presented are true, why wouldn't he have let the 7 days go, take the draft picks, and then put in the waiver claim, allowing him to end up with the player, the Flames 1st and 3rd round picks, and Calgary paying the $2.5 mil signing bonus. I guess the danger would be that one of the 5 teams below the Avs in the standings puts in a waiver claim and steals O'Reilly.
I'll be surprised if the team says much about this. Feaster won't be fired, and it'll be glossed over as a misunderstanding about the new CBA and crappy information from the KHL. I'm not saying it's right, but it's what will likely happen.

Wow.
Where are the Flames currently at on the waiver wire - could it be that Feaster thought we were up first given that Washington claimed Volpatti?
If not then I have no explanation.
Yes, you fire Feaster based off of this. While it's a stupid technicality, it's on the GM to have all his ducks in a row when making a move of this nature.

At the very least, this brush with disaster should be a wake-up call to maybe ignite some real change for the organization. Had this gone through, the changes would have meant so much less because the damage would have been done.

I want something. I've always been a Feaster supporter, but my confidence has never been lower in the franchise. You can't ignore this.

Yup...Tallon was gone not that long after that major league screw up...and so should Feaster be for this. Doesnt matter it never came to fruition, he almost set this club back several years with this reckless attempt...not to mention offer sheets are a terrible idea to begin with because they rarely work.
Right now all he has done is PO'd Sherman and likely some other GM's, shown that he or those under his watch do not have a firm grasp of the things they need to have a grip on, and made himself look like a buffoon to the entire league.
Has to go....today if not sooner.
Its unbelievable.

Not the way it should work. Feaster is the GM and the buck stops there. You can't hold lower level employees accountable for something that should have been verified from the GM chair.

Did you read it?
According to the Kontinental Hockey League's website, O'Reilly - who was unsigned until Thursday night - played for Metallurg Magnitogorsk on Jan. 21 and Jan. 23 (written in the game sheets as 'Rayan O Rayli'). And as NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told TSN on Friday, O'Reilly would have had to clear waivers to join the Flames if he actually played in the KHL after the start of the NHL season on Jan. 19.
