If that article is true, the Flames control the market. Having all of the top 4 trade targets is a once in a career opportunity for Conroy. Better take full advantage of it.

Besides the guys that they won't trade, there isn't much in their system that is all that intriguing. I'd probably just go for the draft picks.

I agree. There's Elias Petterson (the OTHER one, the D-man), who is 6'4", skates well, and plays a robust, physical two-way game- although he projects as a puck-moving, stay-at-home type in the NHL. Can't see them parting with him either.

Phone call for Zadorov or Tanev better start with a late first round pick or I am not entertaining the deal at this time. Make it worth it to us to trade now and not at the deadline when a bunch of teams are lining up.
I could also see us moving players right now for picks and then using those at the trade deadline to acquire younger players with term for help this year if we continue to hang in the playoff picture.

They can have Stromgren for Raty. Not Tanev.

Where would Raty rank among current Flames prospects? Ahead of Pelletier, or below?

Eh, I am guessing if there was a good offer they'd be gone.

Just looking on paper, that is kind of how I felt, but I's be lying if I said I know a lot about Raty other than that he was drafted high.
If he is below Pelletier, then he probably wouldn't be a lock to make the Flames.

I agree Conroy should be fired for not just settling and giving guys away because fans are impatient.

I would take a flyer on Podkolzin for one of Tanev or Zadorov.
Podkolzin is in that Bennett territory of value, where he probably needs a change of scenery and is worth a 2nd round pick.
He fits with what the Flames are looking for, young, big, can skate, has some skill, and is ready to play in the NHL. He actually reminds me of Bennett a lot, without the fighting.

Agreed. Offers from Vancouver right now are likely way too low. They are probably not willing to pay the rival upgrade cost that Conroy would ask for.

Do you think Tanev is worth a 1st round pick? Maybe 2nd+3rd in later years? I think Los Angeles could really use him.
The trouble is they have nobody to trade to make the money work until Arvidsson comes back which is supposed to be some time in the 2nd half of the season. And it doesn't seem like they need Arvidsson to win, apparently.
Also not ideal because Tanev plays the same side as Matt Roy who seems to fill a similar role. It could help them cut down Doughty's minutes especially on PK.

This was the same guy that was saying that Garland would be a target for the Flames in return in another clip

If a 1st for Tanev is offered then he better be packing
