Who eould have thought that 15 years later it would be the crazy haired old loon running the GOP instead of John?
RIP Mr. McCain

That said, while I 100% agree with McCains sentiment, and can lament the day the right had leaders who could show some leadership. I still wonder why it would have mattered if Obama was an Arab, instead of Kenyan?

The twist though, is that by introducing the world to Sarah Palin, he brought out those crazies.
He unleashed the best that created a movement that led to Trump becoming president and MTG and Boebart being high profile congress members.

That was a response to the power of the tea party at the time. I don’t think Palin’s appointment drove radicalism. The radicalism and winning primaries drove the appointment.

Well, the Tea Party wasn't a thing until after that 2008 election. So correlation / causation and all that but the timeline does line up.

Wasn't bringing Palin in an attempt to placate the insane wing of the party at the time(though it was far less insane than now)? Then the rational ones got steam rolled into oblivion? Gee, solid strategy from moderate Conservatives that seems to fail catastrophically every time it happens.

It's not so much radicalism that she started. She drew some huge crowds at her rallies. She normalized the concept that politicians on a national stage don't have to have to be in any way qualified if they can draw huge crowds by saying outrageous things.

Lol there's video of Boebert and her boyfriend openly groping each other in the theatre where they were watching the Beetlejuice musical, turns out that's why they got booted, not vaping (which she was doing) or offering a pregnant lady alcohol as compensation for being vaped around (which her boyfriend did).
She offered an apology tonight.
Hopefully her time in the sun is coming to an end.

Play with fire you get burned. McCain should have beat Bush in 2000. He didn’t and had to wait 8 years to take another run. He gave into the fringe elements in the party and Palin became his running mate.
I truly think he woke up in that moment. An honorable man, led astray.
Sad to think its highly unlikely someone can still be strong enough in this day and age to right their wrongs

Yes they seem clearly wasted and she got her hand between his legs while he's all over her Bristol's, which are almost falling out of her dress not exactly decorous behaviour

It's kind of crazy that she is 36 years old and a grandmother. That has to be pretty rare.

Her popularity with male voters likely just went up.

As long as the (R) exists in front of the name, the GOP can say or do anything outrageous and it won't budge move the needle for their constituents.
That party is all about greivance politics now, nothing else matters.
