Last years deadline I learned we could turn our screen colour from white to black. This year I’ve learned to hit profile and see how many posts I’ve made ect. Can’t wait to see what I learn about this site at next years deadline.

IF the flames deal Ras, I fully anticipate he's going east bound.

Offers coming in appear to be gaining in value, and still interest in both Kadri and Andersson, but will Craig move them?

Kadri has committed to this team long term, Andersson not so much I'm told.
Do you know if Colorado ever offered anything close to what they offered for Nelson for Kadri...

I understood what you meant- Jets always play it a bit cautious and often that's not wrong- as only one team can win, but I'm not sure their team fires like this again in a subsequent year

They did not have serious talks.

We can say this player should get the same as that guy ect. but it doesn't work that way. GMs have their own opinions and players have their say in many cases too, especially long term.

Rantanen is an elite player. Kadri and Anderrson are 2nd pairing forwards and dman.

I don't think there is a comparable. Unless you think teams will get desperate.

I'm scared to share, people seem to be taking the reality of the non-tanking Conroy movement to heart.

I think I've been coming at it wrong. Instead of hoping that Connie will in fact move Kadri or Rasmus, I should be hoping that someone forces him to because the offer is too good.

So, I'm going to go to sleep and will an offer or two that Connie has to say yes to, and it will set this franchise up in a way I haven't seen in the 30+ years I've been cheering for them.

(Or I'll wake up in the middle of the night with indigestion... 50/50)

You need other GMs to love your player even more than you do to offer a package that forces your hand.

And that's simply not a guarantee as it's all quite subjective/on a case by case basis.

And sometimes GMs REALLY love even the most obscure players that they're willing to pay a price above what would be deemed market value to get them.

So you're right, discussions didn't really get too serious.
I know a 1st was always part of the discussions.

Yeah, the reality is, this team was not selling and many of these talks never progressed to the point where specific players like Ritchie were even discussed. I think it's a missed opportunity on some of our players, especially Kadri, but it is what it is.

A "war" would mean who else higher-ish profile moving West or somewhere else west?

Marchand?
Boeser?
Laughton?
Tanev?

Based on the Nelson deal a 1st and Ritchie may not have been a stretch

Well that sounds close to a yes...which would be a mistake.

Flames always screw this up. It's a sellers market. You're on the bubble. Sell these guys.

Did the same damn thing in 22-23. Market is going crazy and we're holding on to Hanifin, Lindholm, etc because of the chance of the playoffs and Becasue we might be able to re-sign them the next year. Then just end up moving them a year later for returns that probably would as good as you could have had that year:

It's not tanking or giving up on the season. It's just smart asset management .

Unless Kadri said "No I'm not willing to waive" then Conroy made a big mistake.

There is no way we decline a deal where someone offers a 1st for an old and deteriorating Kadri.

No shot. Please.
