There is a swath of Republicans in Virginia/NC/Georgia that are more urban/suburban Republicans who are looking for a path to be an anti-Trump Republican since MAGA doesn't play well state wide in their purpleish states, but it's a tough needle to thread.
Truth. I can second this notion. I've met plenty in those states that feel this way.

Sung to the song "Sound Of Silence"

“Hello MAGAs, my old friends,
l've come to beg for cash again.
Because indictments softly creeping,
Left subpoenas while I was sleeping.
And conspiracies, that were planted in my brain,
Still remain
Within the sound of silence.

In endless courts I walked alone.
Speaking in a whiny tone.
'Neath the halo of a judge's lamp
My orange makeup was thick, cold and damp.
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a mugshot light,
That made for quite the sight
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw,
Ten supporters, no one more.
People taiking without speaking.
People hearing without listening.
People saying lies with evidence never shared,
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

Fools on Fox, you do not know,
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear Jack's words that he might teach you,
Read the charges that Smith might reach you.
But his words. like silent raindrops fell
and echoed in the wells of silence.

And the people bowed and prayed,
To the pompous god they made
And J6 flashed out its warning
To the insurrection that DJT was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
Are written on the Capitol walls
And Court house halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence."

Furthermore- your comment is the quintessential head in the sand nothing will change BS. I feel like last round you were the guy saying nothing will happen there will be a peaceful transfer of power and then there was a Jan 6 coup. To be completely honest anybody saying there’s nothing to worry about is just straight up lying or not thinking this through fully. With Trump, anything is possible in the USA. Personally I think this will be the most important election in the country’s history and Americans should be extremely worried.
Man, you are an alarmist. The armed forces will rally behind Trump if he loses? C'mon man. You are the one not thinking things through fully. That's not how things work in the U.S. You've been spouting this nonsense around here for a long time.

Reuters poll finds 37% of independent voters are less likely to vote for Trump given his criminal cases vs. 8% who are more likely. So much for the GOP’s claim that this helps him. Also, I believe that Republican voters will reconsider their support of the criminal.

Judge sets the J6 federal trial for March 4, 2024 rather than the 2026 date Trump was asking for.

To save everybody else from Googling what "Super Tuesday" is:

Quote:
Super Tuesday is the United States presidential primary election day in February or March when the greatest number of U.S. states hold primary elections and caucuses. Approximately one-third of all delegates to the presidential nominating conventions can be won on Super Tuesday, more than on any other day.

I watched the Republican Debate on Fox News on the weekend, and the person I was most impressed with was Nikki Haley. She seemed to have the most common sense approach on most issues.

NEW POLL: Whopping 62% Say Trump ‘Committed a Crime’ In Poll Released Amid Mugshot Furor

Quote:
Fox News host Jessica Tarlov torpedoed a comparison of ex-President Donald Trump’s mugshot with MLK’s — then dropped some brutal new poll numbers on Trump’s alleged crimes.

She also delivered some bad news for Trump fans who think Trump’s prosecutions are being viewed as purely political, citing a brutal Navigator Research survey showing most Americans believe Trump committed a crime:
Quote:
When you say that people are rallying behind him, his diehard base is but the average American isn’t. There’s new polling out today. 62% think he committed a crime, including 67% of independents. 61% think that he must stand trial before the election.
Quote:
Why? Because you don’t want to put someone in office who’s going to jail. And 59% think that the DOJ is being fair, that shoot straight through the argument that this is a two-tiered system of justice. I you know, if you don’t like the Joe Biden is fundraising off of it, you know, Donald Trump is doing the same thing. He’s having his moment. I’m Mitch McConnell. Even remember, you fundraised off cocaine, Mitch. People need the money.

Wannabe authoritarians do alright when they can wrap themselves in the flag, but stepping into revolutionary territory and taking that same flag on is a whole other story.

John: Hey, Bush is now at 37% approval. I feel much less like Kevin McCarthy screaming in traffic. But I wonder what his base is --

Tyrone: 27%.

John: ... you said that immmediately, and with some authority.

Tyrone: Obama vs. Alan Keyes. Keyes was from out of state, so you can eliminate any established political base; both candidates were black, so you can factor out racism; and Keyes was plainly, obviously, completely crazy. Bats*** crazy. Head-trauma crazy. But 27% of the population of Illinois voted for him. They put party identification, personal prejudice, whatever ahead of rational judgement. Hell, even like 5% of Democrats voted for him. That's crazy behaviour. I think you have to assume a 27% Crazification Factor in any population.

thoughts on the "feud" between Dr West and Bernie? i side with Bernie. The US exists in a political duopoly, and a vote for Dr West is a vote for Trump. it sucks but thats the reality

If Trump doesn't get the GOP nomination, will he run as an independent? I could totally see him doing it, and that threat alone might force the GOP to give him the nomination just to avoid splitting the vote.

I’ll say it now. Trump will not be the GOP nominee. So much could happen: death (lifestyle and obesity), prison, incapacity (heart attack, stroke). I hope he represents the GOP because I think he’s easily beatable. There are other candidates who could be stronger. Desantis would be a weak candidate as his policies won’t play well across the country. Vivek and Haley have a better chance, but I don’t see anyone beating Biden. I believe there are a couple of serious candidates waiting in the shadows and may announce later when the Trump crap plays out.

Yeah. I guess there are some server outtages in Moscow, so he keeps losing connection.

Couldn't happen to a better guy. Just wish he didn't have government funded healthcare.
