Now I think about it wouldn't it be a brilliant twist and a way to keep viewers interested with a batch of new characters and individual storylines? The only constant would be the zombies as it's the way it should be. I didn't start watching the show for the soap opera storylines, pregancies, love triangles, suicide whiners, etc. I'm watching for the zombie carnage.

Anybody ever read World War Z? I think it is by Max Brooks.
I always figured this would be an excellent premise for a TV show. The book basically is a "factual" account from survivors all over the world. So it jumps all across the planet and tells individual stories about how people made it through the certain stages of the apocalypse.
What I liked about it was the way it was presented. IMO it could easily be a TV show based on the Zombies. That would be the only similarity between episodes, each week, new cast, new locations but still progresses the overall story line of how the world reacts and survives a "outbreak" from Japan to South Africa to Canada. They were all in it together.
Anyway I digress...tangent over...

Movie comes out December 21, 2012. Starring Brad Pitt. The book was awesome, I finished it about a month ago.

The movie, however, is going to be nothing like the book, apparently, just 'set in that world'. Pretty disappointing, really.

Then you are watching the wrong show. This is a show about people surviving in a post-apocalyptic world, and what it's doing to them. I have been re-reading the comics lately, and they again impress me with the depth of their look into humanity. Here's the blurb from the back of the trade paperback books.
"How many hours are in a day when you don't spend half of them watching television? When is the last time any of us really worked to get something that we wanted?
The world we knew is gone.
The world of commerce and frivolous necessity has been replaced by a world of survival and responsibility. An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe causing the dead to rise and feed on the living.
In a matter of months society has crumbled, no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable tv.
In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living."

Really? Damn, that sucks. The individual accounts of the "zombie holocaust" are what made the book so good.
I'll probably end up going to it anyway though, as it could be the end of the world.

Sadly that kind of sounds inspiring and might suit me better than my run of the mill 9-5 life. Could it be that for those of us that survive (less the sadness of most people we know dying) that it's a much more interesting and exciting life?
Does living day to day like that with the worst outlook being eaten by a zombie sound worse than living in suburbia and going to work 5 days a week for the next 30 appox years and hopefully retiring with the worst outlook being eaten by a shark/bear/car accident, maimed by drunk driver, murdered in street robbing, or suffering some terminal disease that's painful and drags on for a few years.
Clearly having a good day at the office right now.

I agree. I don't want to watch a video game, I want to watch a quality show with interesting themes.
I think they actually do a pretty good job balancing being a dramatic tv show while also bringing in some of the over the top fun typical zomby type flavour to the show.
Can't please everyone I suppose. There are those who expect the show to be more like a B horrer movie, but I'm glad it isn't, otherwise it would be like a lot of cheesey shows that come on the Space channel that no one cares about.

You should watch "The Road" then, you'll appreciate your 9-5 life and what it could be. It's not a zombie flick but it is post apocalyptic. You never really know what caused the apocalypse. Even though it's about survival and trying to keep a little humanity alive I couldn't help but feel like it was hopeless and wished the main character would just "do it".
Off topic...sorry

The Road is the best post-apocolyptic movie.

I hope they get holed up in a mall next. the only thing missing from Paul Blart: Mall Cop from winning some awards is the lack of zombies.

Yeah, he has been obscure lately. Don't remember much from him except when he was plotting to kill someone with Dale (?). I might be remembering that wrong.

I thought he was talking with Dale and saying how insignificant to the group they were?
That guy hasn't gotten any love in the 2nd half of this season.

If Paul Blart: Mall Cop had zombies, it would literally be Dawn of the Dead.

Ah, right. T-Dog was hallucinating and thought he needed to kill some member of the group before they killed him.

I don't think so, he just wanted to sneak off an leave the group....and he wanted Dale to come with him.

Army base has some risks though... namely that other folk got there first, are in possession of said military grade weapons and none to keen on outsiders. But yeah, I do think that in the event of a Zombie outbreak first places most would head to would be an army base... thinking about it some more if I was a johnny come lately I'm not sure I would go there... the place would likely have been looted and picked clean of supplies in the early panic.
I might head to a rural/semi-rural airport though. Surplus fuel, machine parts, clean sightlines from the tower, statistically high firearm ownership rates in the surrounding area's (scavaging purposes), reasonably secureable, reduced zombie rate through the lower pre-outbreak population. Folk might not think to go there initially so less chance it's been picked apart.

They could walk along the lake bed... they're already dead so no need for breathable air. A steady supply of food (Fish + Garden) and drinkable water is tempting but if you should ever get seperated from the boats and Zombies make it to the Island then you're effectively trapped.

I'd love to explore the characters of some of those zombie folks. What are their personalities? Which of the lady zombies are hot? Which of the men are dominant? What are their struggles? What are their dreams and fears? Let's look at this apocalypse from their point of view for a few episodes. Anyone with me on this?
(Really, I don't have to use green text, do I?)

Why even green text? Your idea has promise, and I would like to subscribe to your magazine.
