No, because we've heard for weeks that Hanifin and his agent were controlling the destination for a team he would sign with. With that logic, it's fair to expect an extension would be part of the deal increasing his value.

I think stepping back and watching the evolution of what people are calling a garbage return on this trade is quite funny. Start of the year people would have been all over getting a first round for Hanifin. Now through nothing more than our own narrative over the past few weeks, likely stimulated by pleasant surprise on the Lindholm return, followed by the mythical growth of unofficial trade rumours and speculation of fixing all this franchise’s woes with three trades, we’ve become devastated with this return. Not based on any data, just our own invention of what these trades might be.

Yikes... a very late 1st, a 26 year old "prospect" and a 3rd. Must be a pure rental. Hard to blame Conroy as am sure he took the best offer out there, but geez being a flames fan is rough sometimes, team seems to consistently rebuild during soft periods in the trade market. And the one guy we really would have benefitted from moving who is sewering the team's own draft position doesn't look like he is moving.
