True, but 8 years is a long time, it's pretty normal for people to rise up the ranks in that time.
In any case as I said, these kinds of people sticking around for the transition period is important, so there's no eff ups while the new people are learning their jobs. They are also generally not abruptly replaced, but with some transition time of their own, during which they can make sure their replacements will have everything under control. And they especially are not usually all replaced at once.
That is how a properly functioning government is supposed to work, with very little drama.
Anyway I actually came to post this, because this just seems so fitting.

Depending on which segment of the population you talk to, it was never really over.

As if focusing on one ego-maniacal obfuscationist wasn't making life difficult enough.
I have to laugh at the suggestion of people making career decisions as being treason. A presidential candidate asking for a foreign nation to intervene in an election, is okay, and not treason. A president-elect with with obvious ties to that same regime is okay, and not treason. But several high ranking bureaucrats choosing to resign from their jobs and walking away from their chosen vocation, well that's treason? No, that's a freedom of choice. Suggesting that these individuals are committing treason by exercising their free will of where they want to work, that's just god damn fascist from the word go. People have no explicit responsibility to remain in a position within the bureaucracy if they feel they no longer can morally provide services to the state, regardless of the leadership. That is called liberty. Look it up.
Now, let's engage in a multi-page ####fest over peter's complete misinterpretation of political philosophy.

From the article:
Quote:
He is usually of the elite but has a nature in tune with the time — given over to random pleasures and whims, feasting on plenty of food and sex, and reveling in the nonjudgment that is democracy’s civil religion. He makes his move by “taking over a particularly obedient mob” and attacking his wealthy peers as corrupt. If not stopped quickly, his appetite for attacking the rich on behalf of the people swells further. He is a traitor to his class — and soon, his elite enemies, shorn of popular legitimacy, find a way to appease him or are forced to flee. Eventually, he stands alone, promising to cut through the paralysis of democratic incoherence. It’s as if he were offering the addled, distracted, and self-indulgent citizens a kind of relief from democracy’s endless choices and insecurities. He rides a backlash to excess—“too much freedom seems to change into nothing but too much slavery” — and offers himself as the personified answer to the internal conflicts of the democratic mess. He pledges, above all, to take on the increasingly despised elites. And as the people thrill to him as a kind of solution, a democracy willingly, even impetuously, repeals itself.

Decided to check out the #HolocausMemorialDay hashtag on Twitter. Of course, it was full of Trumpists whining about how there's no memorial day for those killed be communists - they're actually defending fascism as being unfairly picked on.
This is why fascists must be stopped, by any means necessary. It absolutely will happen again if we don't, and this time, there won't be a Good Superpower to step in and stop the massacre.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Look forward to seeing final results of VoteStand. Gregg Phillips and crew say at least 3,000,000 votes were illegal. We must do better!
I don't know who Gregg Phillips is, but I'm going to go out on a huge limb here and say he's going to somehow find a way to say that Trump won the popular vote as well.

We had the Women's March - next, The Scientists:
http://www.scientistsmarchonwashington.com/
Welcome! We want to thank you all for your incredible outpouring of support for this march. We are working to schedule a March for Science on DC and across the United States. We have not settled on a date yet but will do so as quickly as possible and announce it here.
Although this will start with a march, we hope to use this as a starting point to take a stand for science in politics. Slashing funding and restricting scientists from communicating their findings (from tax-funded research!) with the public is absurd and cannot be allowed to stand as policy. This is a non-partisan issue that reaches far beyond people in the STEM fields and should concern anyone who values empirical research and science.
There are certain things that we accept as facts with no alternatives. The Earth is becoming warmer due to human action. The diversity of life arose by evolution. Politicians who devalue expertise risk making decisions that do not reflect reality and must be held accountable. An American government that ignores science to pursue ideological agendas endangers the world.
I suggest February 12th, Darwin Day, but that may be too soon to pull off.

It's fascinating to me that a guy can be both the President of the United States, and so remarkebly insecure.

Does anyone know who the guy is in the upper right of this photo?
My buddy looks exactly like him and I need to know for banter purposes.

Lol I just can't help it now, I look at every single picture of him.....but those ####ing hands! My goodness they are tiny. I have no doubt it's one of the biggest drivers of his insane insecurity.

I've got tiny hands too. I've never felt insecure of them.
Not defending him at all, but it would be a dumb thing to be insecure of.

What are you talking about??? They're yuuuuge!!! He has the best hands. They're tremendous.
The White House is going to have to invest in smaller pens and pencils though. Just for photo-ops.
