I have my XB1 from them as well and I hope they do a better job packing the console.

Yes, I noticed this. There was a gigantic box and the stuffing was some packing paper. I would have hoped they would put something underneath and on top to cushion any blows. My box was undamaged though. I ordered my Xbox from Futureshop so we'll see how they do.

Quick question about hard copy vs. digital as the last console I've owned was a Wii:
I know that with an actual game disk, loading whatever amount of data onto the PS4 harddrive will cut down on load time significantly. At the same time, the disk is required for verification purposes correct?
Meaning, if I were to buy digital versions I would be able to swap between games without the need of pulling out and insert a new disk?

I don't want to build a 700-100 computer to be equal to a console..

Yes that would be the advantage of the digital copies, the downside is the 35+ gigs you'd have to download for the game online instead of install through the disc.

That and I'd imagine being able to trade in is a plus for some.
Man, just looking at potential titles that I'd like to pick up, this little gaming on the side is turning out to be much more than I thought it would be, which is a good thing I guess.

Futureshop charged my credit card for the Xbox One this morning. Looks like they'll be doing the same thing with shipping as they did with the PS4.

Yep which means most of us should get ours Friday. Given the XB1 is likely bigger and heavier than the PS4 I'm hoping they pack the boxes better.

Killer Instinct looks quite good. Free to start - main complaint is just need more characters but good start. New season will bring the new characters to fill out the game.
I just wish they started work on the game earlier so it would have a full roster at launch - Got to play the arcade a lot at the Calgary Pincade show!

3.5/5
7/10
The sad truth about fighting games is that much of what makes playing them against others interesting is usually kept obscured. Killer Instinct succeeds enormously at exposing all of that information to players of all skill levels. Not only is its combat system flashy and well thought out, it's well explained too, thanks to its powerful training tools, and what is easily the most complete guide to terminology and tactics ever assembled in a fighting game. Though it lacks an arcade mode or a full-sized character roster, Killer Instinct delivers where it counts.
But as much as Killer Instinct is a sound and inviting fighter mid-battle, it's an experience that ultimately feels hollow everywhere else. Online play – as spare as it is – may present a limitless well of competition to draw from, but with only six fighters to master and very few modes of play, Killer Instinct lacks the value and staying power offered by most other modern fighting games.
With more characters and content on the way, the future might be different. At present, there just isn't enough to do.
Fighting games live or die online nowadays, but Killer Instinct’s business model dictates that Jago will be your most frequent opponent. Double Helix intends to rotate which fighter is offered for free, but that will only go so far with so slender a roster. There’s a fantastic combo system at Killer Instinct’s core, but right now it feels like half a game – one full of promise, certainly, but not an especially next-gen one either. The cascade of particles may not be enough to retain player interest until the rest of the game arrives.

All the Dead Rising 3 Reviews are stating the game has the technical issues that we've heard about recently. Poor frame rate dips, terrible pop-in, and ####ty textures.
The game still plays great but I wish they would have either scaled the game down just a little bit or given Capcom more time to make the game actually run good.
Must be fun though if the reviews are that positive even with those issues, they usually jump all over issues like that for games.
The review I am most interested in is Ryse, sadly the embargo for that review is not up until Thursday.

Also for those who pre-ordered it looks like FS/BB charged our credit cards for the XBox One last night.
Also have to say what the hell Microsoft. $75 for an extra controller with the play and charge kit, that is pretty ridiculous. Even more ridiculous that rechargeable controllers aren't the standard by now.

But you don't build a PC just for games. You're better off comparing the cost of a high end GPU to a console, as that's the only real difference between a regular PC and a gaming rig. Basically if you buy the best graphics card you can right now for the same price as a console ($400-$500), you'll be able to play any PC game for years to come at the same graphics quality as the consoles (at the very least)

One thing to note, and a deal breaker for many, is the lack of sports games on the PC.
Majority of the EA Sports games (All except Fifa I think) are not available on the PC. Not being able to play NHL if I went to PC is a big reason for why I stick to console gaming.

Wait, the Xbox One controllers still need batteries? That was one of the biggest advantages the PS3 had right from the start, and should have been the easiest for Microsoft to rectify

I go back and forth on that. Replacing batteries is annoying, but any time I've not been able to play because both my controllers are dead because I forgot to plug one in to recharge I wished I could easily replace the batteries.

Plug the controller in to charge while you play. I had the rechargeable battery for 360, so if the controller was dead I just plug it in while I play. I have already done the same thing with the PS4 controller.
Rechargeable is the way to go.

I have a feeling Ryse is going to be kind of like Killzone where the visuals got all the attention and the rest of the game is pretty meh.
