Trump "When I went to the border, border control officers told me..."
...that they didn't actually meet you? I mean this is amazing, just bold face lies, calling all politicians stupid and saying absolutely nothing substantive. Clearly not taking this seriously.

I liked Trump's performance tonight though he said some stupid things. I've gone from being disgusted he was even in the race to seeing some method to his madness. He's a scary candidate, but its refreshing to watch someone speak their actual mind compared to the mostly career politicians on the stage.
I watched it just to see how Trump would do. He got a few laughs but it got boring pretty quick listening to these guys lie their way through their points. The governor from Illinois wasn't too bad. At least he seemed to be half way practical before I changed the channel.
Donald Trump is a pig. When the woman asked him about his remarks and he says "only Rosie O 'Donell,Then goes on to tell her she is lucky. "I'm being nice to you but I don't think I should be because of your questions. WTF

Driving home last night I turned on Fox radio to listen. The first thing I hear is Rand saying "I don't want Washington knowing about my marriage or my guns!" The crowd erupted in cheers and applause. I quickly changed the station to the Jays game.

Besides the fact none of them support the Iran deal, and this is how most of them approach terrorism, worries me more than anything. They have this childish view of how to handle the problem. Even Megan Kelly was like wtf to his answer...
Not one of them came off as anything more than a crackpot.
Sad.... But funny.
Disagree.
Kasich looked and sounded Presidential and reasonable. He'd do well in the general election; the question, however, is if he can make it through the primaries.

I think that you mean "Ohio."

I watched some of the debate but very little because quite frankly they are all a bunch of buffoons. Usually I can look at the roster of candidates and say "I wouldn't vote for them but I get it". Not this time.
Have any of them actually put together tangible ideas? I can't see it.
They don't support the Iran deal but have any of them actually articulated why besides the president likes it? Have any of them actually read it?
The answer to everything domestic can not be "give it to the state".
The answer to everything internationally can not be make the military bigger and invade stuff.
It's a circus side show and the guy who gets the nod at this point appears to be the one who can win a high school popularity contest. Wait that might be giving them too much credit....the one who can win a middle school popularity contest.
And let's be honest. Rosie O'Donnell might be unbearable. She might even be a "terrible person". But laughing about what he said and having the crowd laugh along with him pretty much tells you all you need to know about how a large chunk of GOP membership thinks and treats this process.
Honestly the republican party has moved so far right, that they are now stuck in a terrible position of having to cater to the far right base, while doing everything in their power not to sound reasonable to appeal to the wider electorate.
I mean they created this monster, now they have to cater to it, so up until the republican's have their nominee decided you will have this gong show of stupidity because they all fear saying anything reasonable until they have the nomination.
I for one am hoping that Trump becomes the nominee. The republicans need to be destroyed in this election to break the fever they have. You need to appeal to more than 20% of the country to win elections.

I really don't know how far the Donald can take being anti-everything remotely establishment, but last night made it clear that's how he's getting the nomination at least. At this point I'd be surprised if he says anything substantive about policy going forward. Online reaction seems like he easily and by far won the debate last night, and the big loser was Fox News and Megyn Kelly who are getting ripped up by Donald supporters. It's also amazing Trump effectively called himself a RINO, but all of his supporters (who hate RINOS) don't seem to care. It's just pure anger driving his numbers more than actual support of him.
And predictably, record ratings last night. Probably the highest non-Presidential debate number ever.
Quote:
Early overnight Nielsen ratings suggest that Thursday's Republican debate was not just the most-watched primary debate in history -- it may have been twice as big as the previous record-holder.
The debate on Fox News had a 16.0 household rating between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., according to Nielsen.
Translation: 16% of United States homes with TV sets tuned in.
Fox News usually has 1% or 2% of the household audience.
For the sake of comparison, the highest-rated Republican primary debates in 2011 and 2012 were watched by approximately 5% of households.
The Democratic primary debates in 2008 were bigger, but none of those ever topped 10%.
Interest in Donald Trump's candidacy almost certainly drove viewership on Thursday night.
There are two important asterisks here: The household ratings may change somewhat once Nielsen completes its counting. And raw viewership totals are not available yet. Nielsen will release that data sometime Friday afternoon.
But the preliminary ratings, known as "metered market overnights," indicate that upward of 10 million viewers tuned to Fox for the prime time debate.
The first Republican primary debate in 2011, also on Fox, was watched by 3.2 million people.
I watched part of this debate, and I was really shocked. I don't trust Mulcair, and I don't think Trudeau is very good, and Harper is a very understated personality who's more like a technocrat.
But I wouldn't trade any of our party leaders for the ones in the Republican or Democratic party.
That debate verged on embarrassing.
