OKLAHOMA CITY — A Yukon lawmaker filed legislation Monday to remove the section of the state constitution cited by the Oklahoma Supreme Court when it ordered a Ten Commandments monument removed from the state Capitol grounds.
State Rep. John Paul Jordan, R-Yukon, called the section barring the use of state assets for religious purposes “toxic” and a “malignant tumor” that “needs to be removed completely” from the state constitution.
Couldn't really figure out what the cheque was all about but going to Utube it says

350 Action presented Scott Walker with a $900 million novelty check from the Koch Brothers. Scott Walker is the most dangerous candidate on climate change because he is poised to accept millions of dollars in campaign contributions from the Koch Brothers to deny climate change.
As preparations get under way for the first Republican Presidential debate, on Thursday night, a new poll shows that Americans are deeply concerned that the rest of the world might see it.

Those surveyed strongly agreed that the U.S. government should block the foreign transmission of the debate, or that Fox News should air an explanation of the contest beforehand, but they were at a loss as to what that explanation could possibly be.
It's pretty bad when a satirical article reflects the actual situation far better than "serious" media. I have a feeling that the only people who watch Faux News outside of the US are comedians looking for new material. It's a gold mine of concentrated stupidity. The upcoming debate will be cringe comedy at it's finest.

Yup, that was pretty much my reason, although in this case none of it is directly the fault of Fox media. The Repubican candidates ARE terrible any way you spin it. As Jon Stewart has been pointing out, some of them are incapable of organizing even a proper candidacy announcement.
My guess is that this is really largely the end result of the Citizens United decision. There is now so much money flowing to the presidential campaigns, (apparently especially on the Republican side) that announcing your candidacy is like saying you're willing to accept free money. No wonder this system is attracting the most shamelessly pandering crooks.

Citizens United was a travesty, just as bad as Reagan doing away with the Fairness Doctrine, which paved the way for Rush Limbaugh and right wing hate radio as well as Fox News. Political discourse in the US is essentially dead. And man am I ever gonna miss Jon Stewart.
Its interesting because of the gong show in the Republican and Trump party.
It could be comical to watch a debate with what? 10 candidates, all vying for attention, and probably all going after Trump, which is the wrong strategy, they should be trying to marginalize him and making sure he gets the least amount of time possible in front of the camera.
At the same time it sounds like things are slipping for the Democrats and Hillary Clinton as she's losing support instead of gaining it, and losing momentum.
Bernie Sanders seems to be gaining momentum, and Biden is looking at throwing his name in the hat.
America just doesn't have a lot of choices for good leaders anymore.

Sure they do, but their pseudo-celebrity political system weeds them out long before they can get to a point of being a viable candidate.
Look at us Canadians. We're complaining that calling an October election 2 months prior is way too long. These people are running for NOVEMBER 2016. And the big ones have been arguably campaigning for the last year and a half.

Sanders would be an excellent leader if he actually got elected, but because he doesn't have big money behind him I doubt he makes it past the first few primaries
I don't see why Clinton would be a bad leader. Nor Biden really. ( I have little opinion on Sanders, other than that there's a lot more to being a good president than having good opinions.)
The weeding out of rationals happens a lot more on the Republican side. The dominance of Fox News for Republicans makes it all but impossible to run as a true moderate.

Since 1981, there has been a Bush or a Clinton in the white house.
Any other country and you'd call that a failed state or a Banana Republic.
The only way you could go any further down that line is if Jeb becomes president.
I don't think anyone has said in the last 30 years, "We need more political insiders in positions of power in Washington."
That Hillary appears to be even more of a bang the drum war monger than Bill is also disconcerting.
Not sure if I'm supposed to link to a streaming site. I googled "fox news online stream" and it was the second result, starts with "hul". Not even sure if it's the right site for the debate but it's Fox News.
