I largely agree with Sliver, but Dad's cookies are a guilty pleasure. There's just something about those crisp, crumbly pieces of nostalgia that I love.

I would also just straight up eat raw cookie dough shaped into a disc, too.

As long as it’s firm and chewy, a “soft” cookie is far better than a dry/crisp “hard” cookie. Cookies that are kind of just mush would be gross, but I can’t say I’ve encounter one.

There’s a reason bargain basement grocery store cookies (while mostly delicious, like Oreos) fall under the “hard” category and the cookies people actually pay money for from finer establishments all fall under the “soft” category: they’re universally accepted as better cookies.

We could probably all agree that anything baked as a gluten-free alternative to something delicious is insidious, horrible trash.

If I am paying by weight, I want the driest cookie around. If I want it “wet”, I’ll just dip it in chocolate milk or orange juice.

CP has never been great for breaking news or keeping up to date on anything outside of politics/wars (and even with those it's only good at the beginning before you're wading through the same 10 prolific posters writing the same 10 novels at each other for the last 15+ years). It always amazed me when people would talk about where they get local news back in the day and a bunch of CP'ers would suggest CP as their local news source.

I would always challenge that as it blew me away that they said this. Like how often does a single local news story get posted on CP? Let alone this being your actual source for all of it?

Agree with Sliver was not my 2023 bingo card, but he's totally right.

Soft cookie > hard cookie, every time.

Hey, I am just saying if you have equally priced and sized boxes of Oreos or Chewy Chips Ahoy, why would you pay for moisture content?

It’s pretty good with hard oatmeal cookies, like Dad’s.

Oh yeah, Sliver's 100% right. That was a bizarre old person rant by CliffFletcher. The last time I encountered anyone with his cookie tastes was my grandparents in their 70's in the 1990's.

A nice soft, chewy chocolate chip cookie can't be beat.

TBH, I wouldn't eat Chewy Chips Ahoy, either. I hate cookie-aisle cookies. They're just not good enough to justify the caloric intake. And Chewy Chips Ahoy aren't fresh chewy; they're artificially chewy and taste/feel wrong.

For cookies I only eat homemade, Cookie Occasion, Cookies by George or other cookies like that. I also like Crave cookie sandwiches (two cookies; icing between), but those are on the too-sweet side of things, so one cookie once a year is plenty on those. Even Safeway bakery or Costco bakery cookies I don't bother with...they're just not good enough.

I’m just glad I can cross someone being called a basic-bitch over their cookie preferences off my list of things I hope to see before I die.
