people sometimes.
I'm working my ass off at my job and a 'friend' texts me asking me to do his grocery shopping after I finish my shift.
Would it kill him to go out and get his own damn groceries?

Sometimes it is. It's quid pro quo.
I have friends like this, same as my wife. We'll randomly get texts about availability of certain things that we all have been looking for and they'll buy the max they can (ie: Painkiller shortage last year, kids stuff etc.) and let us know and we can try to do the same/notify other friends to rush over.
A friend asked me to do a click and collect order (myself) and he'd pick it up when he came over later that evening for drinks. Made me some nice home made food that's not in store and other things I can't buy in stores that I wouldn't bother trying to get myself .
And god damn, if you can find someone to quid pro quo for babysitting vs $50-75+ an evening. That's a god damn treasure to never let go! (And yet my wife refuses to utilize this friend thinking it's lip service and nice formalities and whatnot when it's not!!! ARGH!!!). Yes, they don't have kids but they ####ing are the elder kids from large families and the kids love them... the kids won't die!!!
Yes, I have friends like this. No, they're not like this all the time. But I think sometimes if you just offer things to certain people when they need it the most without expectation of reciprocation, they end up as the type of people who will do their best to clear their schedule for you or consider helping you out as long as they're not double booked vs staying at home "tired". It's a network of two way street relationships that requires upkeep.

gee. thanks. would it have killed one of you to grab me a bag like I asked?

Without seeing your text exchange, it seems like a pretty vague request, and it’s not your friend’s responsibility to hound you for details.

wasn't vague at all. We were texting about the sugar shortage and I asked if he or his wife could get me one bag of any size if they found any.
I thought that was clear they should buy me a bag and not tell me the next morning about a restock the night before. He even sent me a picture his wife took of the sugar on the shelf. wooo.

I think you should bring a gun to Walmart and start threatening people until you get some sugar.
Yell stuff like " give me some sugar!"

My wife's doctor is kind of a hack, I've complained before but here's a new one:
She had my oldest son in today, and we've recently noticed some type of dark discoloration on the skin on his neck -- almost like it looks dirty, but it's not. No pain, no itch -- it doesn't look too severe but still kind of strange. She asked the doctor about it and basically got no info, suggested a steroid cream (it's always that or an inhaler with this guy, he's diagnosed all my kids with asthma a bunch of times when they just had colds).
So we went to Dr. Google and found that's actually a symptom of insulin resistance, and in more severe cases could lead to type 2 diabetes. The pictures look almost exactly the same (though the pictures are much more severe cases of course). Gee, would've been nice to learn that from a DOCTOR.

Maybe it's time to seek out a new GP? I know easier said than done, but this guy doesn't sound like he's been that helpful historically.

Maybe Dr. Google is wrong though. I would get a second opinion, have you tried Dr. Bing?

Do you have medical insurance? Honestly I had this doctor who for the longest time didn't think I had insurance, so always prescribed me the 'free' stuff like steroid creams, etc. and the #### that would backfire on you in a big way. Super annoying.
Once he clued in that I basically had full coverage he started actually doing his job. Bleh

What do you call a student that graduates last in their medical class?

What makes you think you are right here?
Based on your Internet research you now change your son’s diet reducing sugar and you get the steroid cream. Rash goes away. Now you don’t know why it goes away. Instead of you use the steroid cream, it goes away and doesn’t come back then perhaps there is nothing to worry about and it was in fact a random rash.
Essentially your google research is identifying what it could be and not the liklihood of that’s what it is.

I mean, does the kid eat like sh-t and / or is his kid obese?
That right there can lend a lot of credibility to the research from Dr. Google, obesity and a sh-te diet are both huge risk factors, not that slim people can't get T2D / insulin resistance (genetics / having a T2D parent is also a risk factor).

Soft cookies RGMG. We got a pack of ginger cookies from Costco and its like they were barely baked. You can bend them in half and they don’t break.
That’s not a cookie. A cookie has snap. It crunches and crumbles when you bite it. It’s not raw cookie dough shaped into a disk.
This is just the latest outrage. The trend of soft cookies has been gaining momentum for years. Most of the bakery cookies I get today have the texture of playdough. Presumably there’s a market for this infantile pap. If you’re one of the dolts who want their cookies to have the consistency of something a toothless invalid would eat in their dotage - WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU?
This is just another step towards the dystopia of Idiocracy. How soon until people suck cookie dough straight out of tubes jammed into their mouths while they watch Fast & Furious 23 on the VR box?

Soft cookies > hard cookies.
Hard cookies are the crap you buy in bags like Dad's, Peek Freans, etc. Garbage, factory-made, last 10 months-type cookies. I don't eat them; they're terrible.
A soft cookie is typically a fresh cookie.
I'm a cookie fanatic. Your take just blew me away. I had no idea people actually preferred hard cookies. I thought a hard cookie was the international sign of a basic-bitch cookie for those with undiscerning tastes.
