I take it by companies, he must mean in industries like big tech, finance, or logistics. To assume this is O/G and therefore the only game in town would be be spurious at best.

For lab work it is horrendous. I used to visit the dr, get my lab request, ride down the elevator, walk in to the lab in the lobby, have blood drawn in about 5 minutes ( no appointment ) and doc would have the results in the next day or so. It does not work like that any longer.
Which system is better? The old or the new?
As for rural docs. My inlaws live in a small town in southern ab. They have a hospital. They have 2 docs. Those docs only cover 4 days a week. 2 days for each of them. They advise people not to show up there if they have an emergency. Next closest ER is 50 minutes away. It used to be open 24/7 and fully staffed. Which is better, now or before?

Are GOTV campaigns still a thing?
I know young people hate driving these days, is there a way to organize some kind of group ride share to get them to the polls?

Young people don't hate driving: young people can't afford to drive...

Are they hoping for a UCP result or NDP result. Political stability in exchange for 3% of profits seems like a fair trade if just doing the economic calculus.

You'd think that if they were worried about an NDP win, they'd want to fire up get as much done as possible before work is made illegal and all managers are round up and shot.

What’s interesting about lab work is that Dynalife has run the Edmonton labs for a long period of time. So it’s not like they are incompetent at it. This appears to be the standard institutional change creates problems rather than a specific inditement of dynalife. We haven’t actually seen the ongoing negative affects of this takeover yet.
The bigger issue is that the province has lost competition in the lab space. We now have a Monopoly on privately delivered lab services whereas before we had competition between dynalife and the crown corp. The loss of competition as every capitalist knows will increase prices and decrease service.

If I was firing up a company I'd probably wait to make sure we didn't have a loony tune like Smith in charge too.

And the barriers to entry are so large, we will not see competition when the contract comes up so it will be a hostile negotiation as the province will have no leverage. If we want to bring it under government control, it means either buying Dynalife, or years of re-building our lab system.
Notley was on a patient's first healthcare panel last night, and said the lab they had commissioned and started construction on had plans to be more than a lab. It would also had been a research and teaching institution to be globally useful and recognized. It would have been an economic driver. The ideological UCP couldn't stand the thought of more union HCW's, and really really screwed this up for no logical or financial reason. Expect more of this.

Alberta rig count has not hit the same levels as there were in 2017 and 2018. sure a lot in the market has changed. But oil prices were not great then if a recall... So what did the UPC do in 2019-2023 to make it so much better

Folks were talking about progressive rabbit holes in the fire works thread. I get that virtue signaling is annoying, but damn if the conservative rabbit hole of trying to undermine public institutions and trust is not a scary rabbit hole.

None of my cousins or their friends (late millennials and gen Z) have gotten their license or even care to drive. They don't bother, they just ride-share or transit to whereever they want.
Same with my gf's nephews and their friends. They have no desire to get a license because their parent's drive them everywhere or they ride-share.
