Don't get me wrong it is still a good show and better than 90% of TV shows out there, but this show has, and will continue to, degrade because after season 4 Clyde Phillips left. Why is that significant? Think of it as Vince Gilligan leaving Breaking Bad.

Yeah.

I think you guys are crazy. I still love this show and think it is fantastic television.

This season has been much better than season 2 and 3 were and the beginning of 5 was rather lousy.

It's too early to rank all 6 seasons as season 6 is just 2 ep's in, but I think it has potential to be the 3rd best season (behind 4 and 1). These first two episodes have been pretty good in my opinion. Instead of comparing this show to Breaking Bad which isn't fair as Breaking Bad is the best show on TV, why not just compare the seasons?

^^^I still like the show and won't compare it to Breaking Bad, but I don't think this has been a strong start whatsoever. I only mentioned Breaking Bad, because I watched EP2 of Dexter right after the BB finale. I guess anything would have been bad in comparison.

I think there's potential for this season and believe me, I'm sure it will pick up. I'm just not as into this show as I used to be.

If we're comparing seasons, my order would be 4, 2, 1, 3, 5. S6 is incomplete so I can't put it on the list.

I just find Dexter much better than Breaking bad, never got in to that show, and never will.

Me, too. I watched half a season and never continued. Not my taste. I love Dexter.

Anyone who compares this show to Breaking Bad obviously hasn't watched Dexter before. They are not two shows to be compared. Dexter has never been a show that competes for the best acted/scripted show on television. What it might be though, is the most intriguing show on TV.

On another note, I was also watching for Almos to interact with the environment he was in because I think he might be Hanks' dark passenger. I noticed he picked up the mannaquin head and stoked the fire/burned himself. It seems like Harry interacts with his environment, as already mentioned, so maybe Almos could still turn out to be a dark passenger.

They do have one thing in common: they both slowly build up the tension and set things up for more action and plot twists later in each season. They start out slow and go out with a bang. Just look at the Breaking Bad thread from the season after the first few episodes. People were complaining that it was slow and boring then too.

Personally, I like that style. Constant action seems forced, unrealistic and then anticlimactic when the end of the season comes. Give Dexter time, it'll ramp up just like Breaking Bad did. They pay-off has always been worth the wait with both shows, I have no reason to think it'll change now.

That is certainly correct. Both shows are very tense and have some cliffhangers.

The one major difference is that Dexter has always been a bit quirky, both the show and the character. Breaking Bad is straight up serious. I'd probably compare Breaking Bad to something like the Wire instead of Dexter.

I was only comparing the way the two shows build up over the course of a season. They are very different shows.

I don't think either of them compare to the Wire. The Wire strove for complete realism whereas the plots of both Dexter and Breaking Bad are highly implausible, but entertaining nonetheless.

still think Doakes, or Doakes long lost twin brother who is exactly like Doakes in every way, coming back to the show would make it 10x better

I still like the show but it's not the same to compare it to breaking bad, it's not in the class, but it's still a very good show. The only thing now that can ever elevate it is a great villian like Lithgow was

I'll give you the Wire as being straight up serious for the most part, but Breaking Bad definitely has a dark comedy aspect to it that is almost a tad quirky like Dexter's.

Dexter is definitely different than Breaking Bad and IMO shoudln't be compared, but I don't think Dexter's quirkiness sets it apart from BB, as BB has had some great dark comedy mixed in with its tone.

i tried watching the first season, it was terrible. i didn't get more than 4 episodes in before i gave up, such a slow plodding pace with no real direction

Trust me it gets going really good. The first few episodes of each season are slow, but ramp up. At first when I started watching it as well, I thought it was okay, nothing special. It gets awesome though.

The thing with Breaking Bad is it is slow as fata, glacier's move quicker than that show. But the pay offs are always so amazing that it totally makes up for it.

I love Breaking Bad, but it was a hard show to get into, very slow indeed. It's the same reason why I can't get into Mad Men, it may win a ton of awards, but I can't stand it. I'd rather watch a mountain erode.

I like how that article states that she performs lesbian scenes exclusively... (I stopped reading there and proceeded to Google)...what do you see? Penis. Lot's of it.

Crazy ending to tonights episode. Did not anticipate Dexter to drop the slides, and the horsemen parading the streets was extremely twisted. Looking forward to next sundays episode
