We've never talked about the food at Spruce Meadows but I'm looking to see if there any options I'm not aware of. What do you guys normally have?
My go to is a couple of ciders and a pretzel. Weirdly there's a significant difference in taste in pretzels with the stall near the ticket entrance being better than the stall nearer to the stadium. Must be the way they store them.
The fries at the centre plaza suck, taste too oily. Lately I've been seeing people eat fries and fried chicken from a bucket. Where are they from? Wondering if they're better. The chipper things are also very oily.
The currywurst is ok but very stingy with the sauce and weirdly at the bottom of the tray rather than on top. The couple burgers I've had (veggie, Peruvian) were decent but what else is out there?

The pies are okay. Everything else is typical food you'd get at a game. Overpriced and poor quality.
When the food trucks are on the grounds they usually have better food in the same price range.

Few pitch invaders at the game today. Security was so slow to react. Staring at them in shock

Thought tonight was a cagey game with probably the right result in the end. Reffing was atrocious. Thought the Forge player was getting called for a foul on Laing and they ended up getting a penalty. Couldn't believe it
Rowdiest crowd of the season by far but that also came with some drawbacks. Missed most of the end of the game with the pitch invaders and whatever was going on in the corner of 200. Think it got sorted in the end without anything too crazy.
Really liking the ultras new flags too. Guess we gotta step up our game...

I think complaining about refs is usually lazy and pointless. But my God. Was he wearing a Forge shirt under his uniform? The worst reffing display I can remember. Don’t forget the whole penalty started after a Brian Wright dive where Klomp got carded for a wave at him to get up. Just unbelievable. Warschewski couldn’t buy a call for most of the game
Hard fought, probably deserved more than a draw but the chances dried up in the second half. Super disappointed they didn’t keep feeding Ntignee the ball after Rama got a yellow. But that seems to be their thing every year, they don’t press the issue and attack the carded fullback. Elva was invisible, should’ve left Tobi on and taken him off for Sellouf. Tobi and Camargo were great and the back was strong. Laing had a shaky period after the penalty but he was being asked to cover a lot of space for Klomp. Looks like the second half they toned that down.

This was a joke. First pitch invaders are so bad. But security was pissed that 200 threw a couple beer cans and made it their mission to watch them so tightly that they just let the guys run out of 109. So bad. New security is needed badly.
Also, who let Forge fans wear their colours in 109? I know you can’t always control who buys tickets but 200s/109/108 you should the allowed to wear the opponents colours. I’ll be talking to some folks at Cavalry to express my unbelief at that situation. Just a mess of a game from the go. But the crowd was big, loud, and up for it
They can play with anyone. But they’re gonna need to put together 3 games in the playoffs

Thought we got jobbed on that pen. Even watching the replay after I got home, the Forge player just fell and they get a goal out of it. Definitely cagey is the right word, especially in the 2nd half. I guess one point is better than none but I really wanted that win.
And food-wise, the bratwurst is decent (if you’re cool with paying 12 bucks for a hot dog) but the hand pies are where it’s at.

People throwing beer only ends one way: no beer in the stands. I hate it when I see it, because that’s just going to ruin it for everyone.
I thought the ref was brutal. Aside from the penalty, the yellow that Rama got for Ntignee should’ve been red. His studs were up, and there’s almost no debate. The yellow for Hojabrpour should’ve been a yellow for the obvious foul and then a second when he kicked the ball away. Again, not even debatable.

That was a spicy game to be at! Also, it's always fun to taunt Bekker, dude is not liked here haha.
As for food - only the meat pies. Best thing they have there. Although even those have fallen a victim a bit to some shrinkflation.

I realized I have a weird line of acceptable beer throwing. When the Forge players came over on a mission to taunt the fans, I thought the beer shower was appropriate. Throwing cans and water bottles however is not cool.

Well, throwing beer at Forge is always going to be acceptable to me! I do think throwing the cans or bottles is past the line, pretty obviously. But I do really think that Spruce Meadows would conceivably not allow beer in the stands if it becomes an issue. Whether their security staff could enforce that is a whole other conversation, but hopefully we never get down that road.

They won't go down that road at all, they'll just increase security if it becomes a trend and not a one off game. Beer sales have to be their second biggest revenue stream behind ticket sales, not a chance they stop allowing them in the stands and cut off their own revenue.

I think the BBQ brisket sandwich that they sell behind the main stand just might be the best food I've ever had at a sporting event. I also enjoy the meat pies they have.

And Vancouver FC has now qualified for the Concacaf Champions Cup with LAFC’s loss this evening. Whitecaps get an MLS spot and Vancouver FC gets the Canadian Championship berth.
3 CPL teams in Concacaf next year!

After Friday night's game Cavalry's attendance for the year finishes at 4270, up 1% over 2024. That's 4 straight years where attendance has increased over the previous year.

And that was a much more mediocre season over last year, too. Great news.
