Looks like Bo is getting his timing back. Hit some balls hard today, the home run, and then the game yesterday. Bodes well.

Gausman so far has 41 K's and 0 walks to start the season.
Impressive

The shift is an embarrassment. Why even bother with athletes. Buncha fat guys could stand where you tell them and catch line drives hit directly at them.
It’s the equivalent to hockey letting a guy stand in front of the other team’s goalie when the puck is in his defensive zone. (In terms of ridiculous and obviously illegal positioning).
Sorry, you can’t do that. It’s illegal. Stand somewhere else.
You can shade guys left or right. That’s it. Make a goddamn play.
It isn’t going to do anything for the pace of play or offense.
It is going to make the game much more watchable.
Orlando Hudson made some horrific Jays teams fun because he’d do something interesting in the field every game.

Re: Gausman
Seeing a guy sign a mega contract and then become an even better player than expected is so, so rare.

If a batter can only hit it to one spot, then that batter is an automatic out. It's not the defence's fault that some batters are predictable. Batters need to get good if they don't want to be automatic outs. Spread it around, make them work for the out. If there's a big gaping hole in the infield, learn to hit it there! Shorten/lengthen your swing or just bunt it and leg it out. The defence is going to put their fielders where they're most likely to get the out, and they would be stupid not to.
It's not like your goalie analogy. It's more like, if a goalie knows that a shooter ONLY shoots for the left top corner, and the goalie cheats to the left and stops the shot. That's on the shooter for being predictable, and the goalie would be stupid not to cheat left. If the shooter is physically incapable of shooting to the right then he's probably not going to have an NHL job for long.

particularly when you consider that in the AL in 1906 only one guy had more homers (12) ALL SEASON than Rizzo has already (9)

I dunno, I mean sure he was hitting the ball he's hard but he wasn't making soft contact before... he's been taking some real ugly swings. To many K's.

In some very pitcher friendly parks might I add.
And don't look now but Semien is playing some awful ball. Rocking a sub.450 OPS. Yikes.
So far looks like the Jays made some great decisions regarding their FA's and signing.

Bo swings and strikes out at a ball that literally hit the plate. Still looking for his mojo.

Oh cmon. That’s the only defensive highlight of Stantons career and he robs Chapman of Extra bases. If he misses that’s an easy triple as that ball bounces away from him.
Should also add that ball is about 5 rows deep at yankee stadium. Damn Yankees.

I like Joe Siddall as colour - he offers the insight that Tabler doesn’t.
