Pronman has the Flames taking Zary as well mentioning he and Schneider are the 2 players rumored to be on the Flames radar.

Schneider is interesting, seems like he could be Matt Pelech or Shea Weber.

I have liked Zary for a long time, and I really feel he is suffering in rankings ahead of the draft. Prior to the shutdown he was consistently ranked top 15, sometimes even 10ish. Now everyone else is climbing the board while he has remained static. Best point producer in the WHL outside of Jarvis, and known for playing a very responsible two way game. Plus the name is actually pretty sick- we can have a big Z and a little Z.

For the last three weeks, I've had a list of the first two rounds on my desktop, and I've been shifting things around every time I see some new information on a player. I prioritize work ethic and overall skill. If a player has an elite shot, but has zero defensive acumen, he's farther down on this list than I've seen on others. Likewise, undying motor players like Marco Rossi and Ridley Grieg went up a slot or two because I believe that type of player has an extra route to success in the NHL. Defensemen who can play defense saw a jump and those who are offensive wonders only, saw a drop.
I don't necessarily see this as the order that will be picked by clubs, but the order that I would pick them in. There has been talk about Noah Gunler, for example, but because he is an elite shot, but doesn't backcheck effectively, he falls behind where the Flames are picking.

Round two had a rolling cadre of characters. Where a club was picking was not taken into consideration.

If Marat Khusnutdinov falls into the second round, I would love for the Flames to move up to draft him.

No way the Flames leave Lundell on the table of he is there. Pronmans a crazy person.

Flames should target Benning IMO (outside their 1st pick).

IMO, there is ZERO chance Lundell is on the table outside the top 12.

Yeah, hell id be scratching my head if he made it past Minny.

Only way I see him dropping like a rock is a HEAVY league wide run on any D man available. Which is entirely possible. This particular draft unlike any other in the past could just wreck "the board".

Yeah it would take a combination of a run on dmen (including Schneider and Barron) and a couple of other players rising (Amirov, Lapierre, for example) due to higher ceilings.
But seems like it would take a lot for him to fall to 19. But every year a player does fall. Though my bet this year is Quinn.
And of curse there's always the possibility he falls to 19 - and the Flames don't take him, or trade down.

Yeah, the Flames could not take him, but they'd be super silly. I dont understand the pensive nature of some scouting reports on him. He's done nothing to warrant it. He should be an easy top 10 pick.

Honestly one of the rumors is the Devils are going to take a d-man with at least one of the three first rounders, hope they take Schneider off the board at 18 so he's not even an option for the Flames. I worry that he's old for this draft (5 days from being eligible for 2019 draft) and his production as a d-man in the WHL is nothing to write home about.
