they dont, if the Canucks lose those games the Flames can pass them
Flames need 7 or 8 wins in 12 games, really that is what it boils down to

Yeah but there's the likelihood of 3 point games in the mix which is the worst possible outcome.

The Kings absolutely and utterly have the Canucks' number. So I don't expect either of their two remaining games to be three point games.
The teams to catch are the Jets or Vancouver.

Kings have ANA, VAN, NJ, NYR for their next 4. I'm hoping they only get 1 win out of that (NJ).
Wild have WSH, STL, TO, NYI. They will probably win 3 or 4 of those games. WSH, NYI are struggling, TO doesn't care.
Canucks can do us the most favor. CLB, LA, ARI, WPG are their next games. Frankly as much as I hate the nucks, but they can help out a lot by beating LA and WPG.
Jets have STL, WSH, EDM, VAN for the next 4.
I'm sure after this 4 game set is complete, we will all be within a couple of points of each other (minus the Wild and god-mode dubnyk)
|
To be honest, the Flames have got an incredibly easy schedule (short term) compared to all of their rivals. I would not be surprised if they run the table and go 4-0

Miller not coming back for the Canucks until playoffs. Not that it matters when Lack keeps playing well:

Breaking #Canucks news from @FarhanLaljiTSN Ryan Miller won't be back until the playoffs. More in a matter of minutes on @TSN1040

Yeah, the Miller injury hasn't hurt them; Lack has a .921 save percentage. He might actually be a starting-caliber NHL goalie... Prepare for Luongo vs Schneider: The Sequel.
I mean it worked out really well for them last time and wasn't at all a clusterf*** of epic proportions.

7 wins still probably gets it done
8 does get it done
3 point games might happen, if they do lets hope for no ROWs
LA is barely .500 in their last 10 I just dont get this general feeling that they "never lose"

This basically sums it up... from reading this thread you'd think these teams were all on 10 game winning streaks. For the most part all of these teams are playing the same as they have all year.

I don't see it as possible 3 points games, I see it as impossible 4 point nights.
If they were all playing Eastern teams, sure there's a possibility they all drop points, but we'd also have to worry about both winning and a 4 point night which is much worse.
When LA/Van play(x2) and Van/WPG play(x2), someone will not be getting 2 points and we only need to stay ahead of any 1 of those teams.
That'a a guarantee of 4 points someone in that mix cannot get, and upwards of 8 points dropped in those 4 games if none go to OT.
That's 4-8 points the Flames have as a cushion on the pack they are competing with.

I wouldn't count any of those teams out except for maybe Columbus. They're not the McDavid teams of ARI, BUF, EDM, TO
PHI - 2 headed monster of Voracek, Giroux as we witness the last game we played them
COL - Varly can win any game on his own
DAL - 2 headed monster of Benn/Seguin

nothing is an easy win nor should it be, just saying things are NOT as dire as some think
They win the majority of their games they will be in
7-5 maybe 8-4
its really not a bad spot all things considered, we should be enjoying it as hockey fans

Millers only signed for two more years, I think he has a limited no trade, my guess is they look to move him next year, doubt they'll be anywhere near the drama.
Wonder how he feels about Edmonton?

Avs just beat us no problem (we played like crap).
Philly played us hard a couple weeks ago.
Dallas plays us hard every time.
Bluejackets blow so we should win that one.
Minnesota has our number this season.
Nashville has been slumping but we all know they are a good team.
In no way would I say that our schedule is doing us any favors in March. Wouldn't be surprised if we struggled. We definitely need to beat the Flyers, Stars and Jackets. All of the other games will be tough.

I think what we need to do is just beat Philly, Columbus and Dallas. If we do that, we'll be well set. After that, as someone said earlier we just have to go .500 and I think we'll get in.

I was tinkering around to put the recent scoreboard-watching misery for #Flames fans into some sort of easy-to-digest context. Here goes...
Since March 1, the Canucks, Wild, Jets and Kings have picked up 40 of 60 possible points. That pace works out to 109 points over 82 games.
To put Min/Van/LA/Wpg 109-point March pace into further perspective, top four NHL teams are on pace for: NYR, 115 STL, 111 ANA, 110 MTL, 110
