There isnt a team in the last 10 years or so who have picked up more "fans in any sport IMO, but that's impossible to know for sure. Though anectdotal evidence is all I have on that from when i lived in the states.
As far as being hated...there isnt a team anywhere who doest have those who hate them.

Jags?
Good for Manning, pretty remarkable skill, smarts, and longevity to do this, and that record may last for a while.

I paid $6.00 on a 58 minute flight to watch that history be made at 33000 feet. Worth every penny!

The same thing happened with the 49ers when they were winning, the Steelers, the Cowboys, etc, etc. I've been a Pats fan since Steve Grogan was the quarterback on a perennially crappy football team.

I though I saw something last week which more or less said that Denver is "America's Team" in terms of the team with the largest fan base.
I doubt that these are people still clinging to the Elway era. The Bronco's are the current bandwagon team in the NFL, and it angers me considerably.....they should still be running with Teebow at QB and only be popular due to the crazy Teebow followers watching a terrible offence survive on freak acts by opponents that keep them alive.
Realistically the Patriots championship teams are from 10 years ago. They've had 2 Superbowl appearances since which were both losses. I think people have been getting off that Patriot bandwagon here in recent years.
It's just a fact of life...if a team is good and winning, or has a star player that people like they will pick up fans.

I think the Broncos had a pretty big fan base from before Manning.
Lots of young people would have jumped on during the Elway/TD era.
Of course lots of Manning fans jumped on the bandwagon when he moved over but they had a pretty big fan base to start with.

It was a good size thanks to the Elway/TD era (when I hopped on), but there's no doubt that Manning has made the bandwagon fairly heavy.

See the thing about the Broncos now is they got the Manning fans bandwagon added to their hitch. That's got to be the vast majority of new Broncos fans, people who cheered for the Colts only because of Peyton, who cheered for Tennessee because of Peyton, whop will cheer for whatever team he coaches because of Peyton.

Yeah, just sucks when you're so bloody stupid that you chose to cheer for a team who plays NFL football the same way your high school football team does.
Thanks a lot Christian Okoye.....Didn't help that the arrogant American kid in our school was from Colorado Springs and would never shut up about the Bronco's.
Being a Chief fan just sucks...Alex Smith literally is the best QB they have had since washed up Joe Montana, with a bit of Trent Green and inflated numbers due to a crazy good O-Line and Dick Vermeil mixed in. Meanwhile other teams are going from Elway retiring on the top of his game to Manning....or Manning to Andrew Luck. I was so happy when Denver had Teebow...but than Elway crawls out of the grave and fixes that mess when most other people would have kept that one going.

Today, someone down here during my lunch break at a sub place looks like he bought a Manning jersey yesterday. The jersey looked like it was never worn until that day. At first, it pissed me off because of how many people have jumped on the bandwagon, but then again, you can't really be mad at someone purchasing a jersey with one of the best football players on the back of it.

Arian Foster had a whale of an opening drive. 59 yards on 5 carries, 7-0 Texans

At some point you gotta cut your losses. Why is Houston throwing 1st and 10 at their own 20 with a minute left? Just been shellshocked with two TDs. Getting the ball first in the 2nd half. Just take a knee and regroup.

I don't think I've ever seen someone score 24 points that quickly before.

You can't forget the 8 or so years of Greise and then Jake freaking Plummer. There's 14 years between Manning and Elway, that's the entire time I've been a football fan
Can't really complain being a Broncos fan though, they've always been at least decent. I'm enjoying cheering for a dominant team for the first time in my life I'm pretty sure (I was 7 when Elway retired)

Yep, get out of the half and escape to the locker room. Ultimately that proved to be the difference
