I really disagree with this McQueen slander. If its true and he is over the back injury completely, I think he's going to be a steal. He's not just big, he's a good skater with great hands and a good shot. His puck control game is good too.

A scouting report with some great analytics in the draft thread about him. Showing a player as vanilla as they come. Wasted time in the ozone, doesn’t put pucks in high danger areas. Good shot. Sounds like a winger in the mold of Joe Colbourne.

cool - so he might end up a third line winger.

The rest of his work has been quite solid. I really like the Coronato extension. Last year's draft was outstanding. Zarubin had 93.5%. Battaglia had 90 points in the OHL. Mews was over a point per game as a defenseman. Luke Misa was extremely good value. Hoskin had a great first year. Gridin did about as well as we could have hoped. And even for the 2023 draft, most of the picks outside of Honzek look pretty solid, especially Suniev. And even Honzek isn't terrible. It's just that most of the players drafted around him are looking a lot better (Sandin-Pellika, Moore, Perreault, Stenberg, Musty, Ritchie, Cowan, Nadeau, Edstrom, Cristall, etc.)
|
Conroy has been good so far imo. The most important thing is his willingness to stick with his plan. He seems to have the organization going down a good path and everyone pulling in the right direction.
I think the Tanev trade is more than acceptable. A 2nd is a reasonable return for what Tanev is and Battaglia is a really good prospect. Honestly, 5 years from now, I think only the Hanifin return will seem a bit light. We'll in all likelihood just end up with a late 1st and nothing else out of it.
The 2024 draft was amazing. A couple more like that and we'll be set up well for the future.

Yes, exactly. The Flames could do a lot worse than him as their 4th line center. No problem giving him a shot.

The more and more I hear about the upside outside the top 2 on this years' draft, the more I wish we dealt it for future draft years. Surely there would be a team or two who would swap this years' for next, though they know this year isn't great, if they have a player they really like to select, perhaps Craig can make it work?

Have a GIF in mind you’ve been wanting to use and then somehow make a connection that plausibly fits the message you want to convey
And then on GIF sourcing:
Do you have a collection that you’re hoping to use up
Or do you search for new GIFs every time
Either way I’m curious about the logistics of it all, it’s a lot of work to have a steady stream of novel GIFs

1) Always double check with other people. I get fed a lot of garbage too from agents, organizations and media personnel. I get fed things I wouldn't/can't share as well. Two things that come to mind, Johnny, Matt and Dube situations. Sometimes I jump the gun and get it wrong too.
July 1 is harder to get information over trade deadline because the circle of logistics/information is way smaller.
2) Gifs are up to interpretation both for me and you CPers. I do it because it brings out everyone's emotions. The lovers, the haters, the wieners...The cryptic gifs are the most thoughtout. Usually more time than I would like to admit but a lot of times I enjoy it more than using words hence why I do it. I have different set of themes depending on how I think about the Players/Teams/Personnel. Some have been caught onto, some haven't.
Craig Conroy is always a chimpanzee but that's not meant to be disrespectful or anything significant other than he's CC=C.
4) I will never beat the big dogs as they are tied right into the league. They work for both sides Media and NHL. I'm probably 5th or 6th link in the chain and by then its already been announced 8/10.

Pretty much every team will be thinking the same and contenders who still have picks will want to keep them for the deadline. It’s a tough trade.

Trade #32 to the Oilers for their first pick next year! That way they can walk up there and take Horcoff with Florida's pick and congratulate the champs for kicking their asses yet again.
But oh wait ... "checks notes", they've already dealt next year's pick in the Walman deal (top 12 protected). Oilers fans don't need to bother watching the next few drafts.

The ultimate win would be getting the oilers pick in 2027 and then McDavid walks next summer. They bottom out in 2026/27 and we get to use their pick to take DuPont at the draft in our new building
