Hf has had an antiflame slant for a number of years. I would hope that the flames prospect rating takes a big jump this year with the major growth spurts by the flames prospect this year.

I don't think there's any point. Switzerland only has one game left in the round robin and won't qualify for the medal round (only top 4 in each pool qualify, and that will be Canada, USA, Finland, and Slovakia in Switzerland's pool).

Just got back from the game, my first Oil Kings game and I'm far from a scout, but just wanted to write my take on a few players......
Brossoit played ok, but wasn't tested a whole lot. Made a nice glove save on Rattie I believe. Seemed very focused and sound.
Rattie shot from everywhere, no wonder he gets so many goals. Missed the net twice with gorgeous chances. Wasn't a very good passer, everytime he passed the puck it seemed like it was a bad pass or a turnover.
Wotherspoon seemed very steady, made good outlet passes, their defense seemed very weak, other than Wotherspoon and Morrow. Morrow is a very good skater and passer (lucky Penguins).
Pouliot looked terrible, weak on the puck and the first goal was his fault for sure, maybe the second one too (I wasn't sure the player who turned it over).
Carruth looked very emotionally spent. He was getting beat in the warmup and he was visibly frustrated so I knew it wasn't going to be a good game for him.
Baertshi skated well, made good passes, but didn't really get anything accomplished. He set up Rattie for a nice chance, but he didn't finish. Baertshi looked very upset at the end of the game, understandably.
Nice to see Brossoit win MVP.
Not sure if the early goal took the wind out of their sails, or if they just didn't have it tonight, but the Winterhawks could barely make a pass.

That would be Oilers' prospect Tyler Bunz.

I was at the game on Saturday night (and at the game tonight). Portland just did not look like the same team tonight at all. I think the home crowd really made a difference these last two games.
Both teams flew on the same plane and didn't get in until close to 2 a.m. By the time their equipment had all arrived and the buses took off it was 3. Perhaps Portland was affected more by this.

Disappointed I'm not able to watch Baertshi and Rattie in the Memorial Cup, and would have love to see Sven get a WHL championship under his belt before he plays for us, but Edmonton was the better team.
In my opinion I think there was some better high end talent on Portland (at least with the forwards), but Edmonton was just too solid from end to end, especially in goal. A very strong team that knew how to play their game.

Was at the game and was great to see Brossoit get the win and MVP. He was outstanding all playoffs and definetly deserved it. Baertschi looked devastated after the game which was tough to see. He was giving it his all every single shift even in the last couple of minutes. Just couldn't get anything going though. He's going to be a hell of a player though. Can't wait to see him next year. I thought Wotherspoon was solid all series and especially tonight.
Before the series I was okay with taking Pouliot at our pick, but after being at 4 games live and watching the other 3 I don't know anymore. Thought he had a rough series overall and just didn't see much from him. I know it's a very small sample size, but I just didn't see it from him this series.

Ah, makes sense. I haven't been following the worlds too thoroughly and wasn't sure of the setup. Thanks.

Ha! It's the defensive mindset that helped to propel them to the title last night.
That above-average team backstopped by a great goalie totally dominated last night. I was sitting at the Oil Kings blueline six rows up. Some comments:
The OK were dominant last night and gave Portland very little. While Portland has better elite talent, the OK are totally deep. Their team defense is outstanding. While Portland more depends on individuals, the OK are a team in the truest sense of the word. They get scoring from every line and from the defense. Everybody handles his responsibilities at both ends of the ice. They shut down Portland's big guns last night. Bart was not much of a factor.
Two low-class moves last night by Portland players. In the third period when the result was obvious, Ross jumped an OK player had him pinned and was flailing away. Brutal display. After the game Carruth took a swipe at a TV camera.
I'm a big OK fan but I don't expect them to win the Memorial Cup. I think they'll be in tough. This team is very young and this was to be a developing year. Next season was to be their year to shine. That they did it one year ahead of schedule is remarkable. They have to be a very early favourite to repeat in the WHL next season (yes, I know lots can happen).
Good luck to the boys as they head east for the Mem Cup!

Portland has average goaltending with some great 2-way defense and a flat out dangerous offense. If they dont get complacent I have no reason to think Portland doesnt fight for the Memorial cup in a weeks time

I guess this shows how little you know.

Was reading the Oilers forums a bit and their thread following the Oil Kings, and they simply have refused to give any credit to Brossoit. The goal in game 6 in the last couple minutes, and they were throwing him under the bus, even though Kevin Lowe's son deflected the shot and screened Brossoit.
And then he goes and wins Playoff MVP, a Flames prospect in Edmonton. Switch goaltenders in this series, and it's not even close.

When it comes to junior hockey it's best to leave the which player is drafted by which team stuff out of it. So much can change for these kids, it's only harmful to put added pressures on them. Good Luck Oil Kings, I hope you represent the WHL well.

Especially a goalie. It is great that he is playing so well, but I'm not counting any unhatched chickens

Maybe you're reading different forums than I am then because everywhere I'm reading people are very impressed with his play. Or there might be a different explanation.

Well, I'll give LB big kudos for his development over the last year. It would appear the Flames hit a home run with this 6th round pick. As far as fans on the other forum, how is it different here. How many times will you see Flame fans on CP do anything but dump on anything remotely related to the Oilers. You in particular should know. You are typically one of the 1st to pile on.

LB has played well in the last couple of months but I will wait a while longer to declare him anything other than a draft pick........
