The commitment to him is short so the Flames will have a chance to flip him next year as a rental.
The best thing for the Flames though would be getting rid of the next 5 years of the Kadri contract. Not being locked into that deal will be helpful when they hopefully have some high end youngsters coming off ELC that need long term big money extensions

Yeah let's not get ourselves in cap hell with old guys just as we need to start paying the next Johnny and Matthew.

Exactly, it’s trading the final 3 years of Kadri when we want to start competing again with Johansens 2 years now while getting a decent replacement D man to supplement all of our UFA Dmen on their way out. Honestly it’s a win win situation.

I find it interesting that we lucked out on Noah and Elias not signing contracts on their own volition. Management and ownership should've seen this team not being a championship contender from the start. We'd have been out of luck now and in the future for at least the next 7 years had they signed a deal. Things are looking up as long as they maximize their trade values.

Both those guys would be gone before Kadri. It reduces cap concerns

Yup...
If management had got what they wanted we would be deep in it..
Doesn't give alot of confidence. Thankfully they were saved from themselves.

I think we all want to move Kadri or Huber-dough but they will not be moved unless we retain which Edwards will not do.
If the team keeps playing better it will only help Conroy with the stock on Hannifan, Big Z and Lindholm will go up this team has brought up kids that have shown they belong and has given the organization a shot of energy and when Poirier and Pelts get healthy, I can see them in lineup.
I like a deal with Colorado but maybe its Big Z going there seems like lots of suitors, but the cap is certainly the issue, I think we will see some good returns coming back and even Tanev we can be competitive again in a couple years

I was curious as to how cold the NHL cities are. So here are the coldest NHL cities by mean annual temperature in Celsius:
Very Cold
1. Winnipeg - 3.0 C
2. Edmonton - 4.2 C
3. Calgary - 4.4 C
Cold
4. Ottawa - 6.6 C
5. Montreal - 6.8 C
6. Minneapolis - 7.9 C
Temperate
7. Toronto - 9.4 C
8. Chicago - 9.8 C
9. Detroit - 10.0 C
10. Vancouver - 10.4 C
11. Denver - 10.4 C
12. Pittsburgh - 10.8 C
13. Boston - 10.9 C
14. Seattle - 11.3 C
15. Columbus - 11.7 C
Warm
16. New York City - 12.9 C
17. Philadelphia - 13.2 C
18. St. Louis - 13.9 C
19. Washington D.C. - 14.6 C
20. Nashville - 15.4 C
21. San Jose - 16.4 C
Hot
22. Los Angeles - 18.6 C
23. Dallas - 19.0 C
24. Las Vegas - 20.3 C
25. Tampa - 15.9 C
26. Phoenix - 23.9 C
27. Miami - 24.9 C
It's not 32 teams because some teams have more than one city. Raleigh wasn't on the list. Charlotte is 16.1 C. Neither is Newark.
Of course there are other factors to consider, like seasonal fluctuations, sunlight, win, humidity, etc.
30 out of the past 30 Stanley Cups have gone to teams with average temperatures 9.8 C or above. Obviously, that's indicative of the lack of Canadian cups in that time. In the 70s and 80s, colder cities actually won more cups.
Most Americans don't realize how much colder the Canadian prairie cities are than the rest of North America. Although they may realize this after playing in those cities in the winter.

Honestly I can’t fault any player for preferring a warmer climate. I would probably do the same thing.

I have a friend who lives in Henderson, NV. Other than dealing with insects, roaches, spiders, snakes, and scorpions- he lives a fairly idyllic life. Like most American cities though, there are neighborhoods around Vegas where you pray your car never breaks down….

The more that I look at St. Louis, I could see them as a landing spot for Zadorov. They are in the thick of the playoff race, and are littered with long term contracts that I can't imagine that they want to waste the best years of.
The player that jumps out consistently is Scott Perunovich. Hobey Baker winner, and destroyed the AHL. He's the 6-7 defenseman in St. Louis and is getting sub-12 minutes a game. They would also have to give up their actual #7 defensman in Marco Scandella for cap purposes, but he is in the last year of his contract. They also have two 2nd rounders this year.
Perunovich, Scandella and 2024 2nd, and I'd be pretty happy for Zads.

Think and are, are two different things.
They are not getting Mountebault, so either Allen or Primeau. Considering they need a veteran presence, Allen.

Interesting! I think perception matters here and I also suspect players who care about this don't look at it that granular.
Any player/family that cares about not playing somewhere frozen would take anywhere above Minny.
Any player/family that wants to play somewhere "year round" warm will take anywhere above Nashville.
Everything else is just bickering about who's city is better....

That temperature list should be limited to October-April; those are the only months that matter.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but apparently Weekes thinks Dallas might be looking in to Zadorov....

The thing is you never have to go to those areas even if you live there
Especially if you are rich

Yeah it’s also misleading. According to the list Dallas is similar to LA in temperature. It’s not lol.
