I don't ‘wish nothing but the worst for this kid’. I just hope he has to take up a career far outside of hockey, where the public will have no reason to follow him and he can mind his behaviour like the rest of us.

From where he is now, a quiet average life may seem like the worst, but it's infinitely better than prison time, getting shot by a vengeful victim, or (reaching here) a Biblical plague involving boils or locusts. A lot of people in this world should be so lucky.

Doughty injured tonight. Looked bad. Could see LA being interested in a right shot top four defenceman if it turns out to be a long term injury.

I feel like we could help with that, andersson right now too.

Yes, sorry, to be clear, I don't wish death and pestilence on this kid. Just wish the worst when it comes to his hockey career so that whole incident will have a better chance of fading from existence, and the victim can have a better chance of happiness in her own life.

Although it would be highly amusing one day to see a hockey player placed on the IR with a ‘lower body pestilence’.

Sure, I'll take an injury free Alex Turcotte and a couple of other goodies. Calgary would have the greenest blueline in history, though.

Personally, I have zero interest in Turcotte. Especially as a centrepiece for Andersson

If Dillion Dube is still paid to play hockey I'm sure Mailloux will have little trouble putting food on the table as a hockey player.

I’m also not as high on Turcotte. But the Kings don’t have anything great in terms of center prospects. Their top prospect (besides Brandt Clarke who is definitely not an option in a trade) is Greentree - a big right wing that was just selected in the first round of the 2024 draft - right now, he’s a similar prospect to Honzek. But, honestly, Greentree probably has a slightly lower ceiling than Honzek.

If the flames were to trade Andersson to LA… I would rather make the trade very pick heavy if they don’t have any prospects that are really exciting. Something like:

To LA:
Andersson

To Calgary:
2025 1st round pick (lottery protected)
2025 2nd round pick
2025 3rd round pick
2026 conditional 1st round pick (becomes a 2nd round pick + 3rd round pick if the Kings miss the playoffs in 2026)

I know it’s “magic beans” but it’s a load of picks. Obviously I’d love for the flames to get an A-level prospect (especially a center) in an Andersson trade but it’s really hard to make that happen… teams so rarely trade prospects like that.

If that's all we got for Andersson I'd be disgusted.

Is the loss of Doughty for a considerable time enough to knock LA out of the Playoff picture??

As opposed to the East, I see far fewer playoff 'locks' in the West.
LOCKS
-Dallas
-COL
-E=NG

LIKELY:
-WPG (based on last year)
-Preds (based on off season acquisitions)

BUBBLE teams to fight with STL, MIN & UTAH for 3 spots:
-VAN (likely to regress, no Demko, weak division)
-VGK (barely made playoffs last year, lost Marchessault, weak division)
-LAK (faded hard last season, now missing top D man)

Edmontons path to the semis is going to be a joke again.

Sure id take a crack at Mailloux but they have to give us back our 1st, if not he's not worth the PR head ache

If you look closer, he played 24 games with the Preds after playing 61 with Edmonton, so 85 total (!)

Basically the Flames need to decide if they need a PP specialist

Well that's an easy decision. They very very much need the PP to function at as good a level as possible. To win games? Nope to pad the stats of Mantha and Kuzmenko etc. Whatever it takes get the deadline deals to be as good as possible.

That'd be at minimum:

1st
2nd
3nd
2nd
3rd

...that's an absolute haul.

Outside of the Flames miraculously making it and taking them out the next best case scenario would be the Blues as a wildcard and taking them out R1

That is 4 picks 2 1st rounders.

Bingo would pay for his flight to LA.

Prepare to be disgusted.

2 firsts, a second and a third is spectacular value.

Yeah I'd take all those picks in a second, especially given Conroy's drafting record after last season.
