Watched The Who's "Tommy" last night. It's a complete trip - wild visuals, great music, Jack Nicholson "singing" and Ann-Margaret cavorting in a sea of baked beans. Gotta see it.

I decided to do a re-watch of the LOTR trilogy, I'm 2/3rds done and these movies never disappoint. I honestly think I like them more and more with each watch. The movies are like 4hrs long each and there isn't a second wasted in any of them. Just peak cinema of the highest order. Is it the best trilogy of all time?

I hated the humour they tried to inject, for I guess, levity. It wasn’t needed, and took away from the scenes. Also anything in slow motion is a waste of screen-time. The needless romantic scenes, should have been scrapped. The battles and pre-amble to battles - also too long.
I would have preferred Tom Bombadil over the Ent scenes any day. I know they’re supposed to be slow moving/talking, but for the interest of time they could get to the point faster. To be fair, they were a slog to get through in the books too.
That said, Fellowship was near perfect, but TT and RoTK felt like they could have had a shorter running time without any ill-effects.

I dont know.
But it is certainly in the conversation.

Some of the fight scenes, particularly in RotK are excessive, self indulgent wasted scenes.

Kids are with the grandparents so the wife and I checked out some good flicks this weekend.
Companion - 8/10 Don't see the trailer before you see this!
Anora - 8.5/10 - Outstanding!
Sinners - 9/10 See this on iMax! Do it now.
Saw Sinners. I liked it but not quite sure I loved it. The closest analogy I can think of is slavery era Dusk til dawn. I was expecting crazy cinematography but the sound and music did it more. I don’t think I’ve bought a movie soundtrack since dusk till dawn but might for this one. The zombie black vampire thriller dance to an Irish ditty was super cool. Turns out soul and blues can make Irish dancing cool and not cringey.
The lead kid Miles Caton is going to be a star. That’s apparently his real voice.

I think it is because I don't know another one where all 3 hit such a high mark.
The contenders would be:
- The Godfather, but depends on how one feels about III
- Star Wars, but I think even though I like Jedi, it is a step down from the other - Toy Story? The third one is amazing. It's close. I would rank #2 or #3.
- Some would say BTTF but I never liked the third.
- The Man with No Name trilogy?
I think those are the contenders.
The Alien trilogy would be on the list but Alien3 is such a step down.

Yeah, I'd agree with most of that. The only real contender is the original Star Wars Trilogy but beyond that? Really....LOTR is a complete goddamned Masterpiece start to finish.
Everyone makes jokes about the Extended Versions but...its just because we want more!
I have a client who moved to New Zealand and I have an open invitation to visit...I really want to do the LOTR tour.

Went and saw Drop over the weekend. This was a laughably bad suspense/thriller. I will say no one go see this one as it is awful. Even if you suspense your beliefs, just wow. I've put my significant other on a timeout from choosing movies now for a month. She was excited for it and even she is telling everyone how bad it was
