My Husband is solely cheering for Vegas to win so the Casinos take a beating. He cares nothing for Sports in general and only follows Hockey because of me.

For comparisons sake -
2017-18: Give up a goal. Give up another quick one. Wither and die. Lose too many. Miss playoffs.

Good times indeed

Reminds me of the ‘11 Canucks, dive to get the power play all playoffs long and when it gets to the final and the refs know your bs, you get nothing.

What’s gonna be the Marchand Punching a Sedin moment?

Well yeah. When the best memory since 04 is Engelland pounding two Canucks with one blow it is dark times, friend

That’s not what happened. Engelland was fighting with Dorsett and Hamhuis came as a third man in. Engelland got them both on the boards, then Dorsett escaped and pulled the other 2 all down to the ice. Then the referees separated them. After Engelland had mixed it up with both guys, Dorsett tried to get Engelland again, with a few body shots and Engelland threw one back at his chin. He was legitimately engaged with 2 guys and did pretty well for himself, certainly didn’t come out behind.

Although one three stooges style punch that hit both guys is a fun narrative.

Btw, Engelland got thrown out immediately after grabbing 2 Caps tonight.
^
Edit: Frankly was disappointed in the lack of appreciation for that

Ok, can we help me understand this new narrative?

Vegas is now a bunch of divers that have made their way through the playoffs drawing bunk penalties and relying on their world class PP?

What is going on here?

No wonder you hated the Flames in 04 then.

I don't think that's fair to the Stajan elimination goal. That's an actual great memory. But we're not exactly spoiled with success as a fan base.

It'll be interresting to see if Vegas has any strength left to get back into this. For the first time in forever Washington has shown great resolve in eliminating their opponents, and you would have to think they are about to take care of business at this point. Maybe they should call in Hulk Hogan to perform one of his classic comebacks for the pregame show next game in Vegas?

Probably. My question would be is it a somewhat respectable mob boss pulling the strings or a totally despicable NHL boss calling the shots?

Looks like all of the puck luck that Vegas used to get through the first three rounds has dried up and starting to balance out.

When the balance of play is going one direction, and puck luck and reffing are both going the other way, and you get a lopsided hand that is in danger of getting out of hand, it’s not that enjoyable to watch.

The 4th goal, when Neal gets 2 but the guy who bloodies his face gets nothing, (never mind 4 by the letter of the law), was deflating and totally on the refs.

Hearing knuckleheads trot out save percentage, irrespective of the type of goals that were scored, is exhausting.

Well, unless you are one of the folks who is irrationally anti Vegas simply because they are an expansion team, or the handful of very pro Caps folks here.

I wanted to see a good game and that was not one.
I can cherry pick spots too.

How about near the end of game 3 when 2 Knights worked over Wilson while he's laying on the ice after a shove headfirst into the boards?

No call.

Any suggestion that the officiating has been one-sided is simply untrue.

It is not a new narrative that the knights have been divers. It's been known all year they have done this. Not a new narrative at all.

I think based on how the teams have played, no team deserves to be on the brink of eliminating the other and we should have a 2-2 series.

I didn’t think the Caps outplayed Vegas tonight until the 4th goal. They had puck luck with skate to stick on 2 goals, where Fleury was close to making saves, and Vegas hit posts while Holtby was down and out, or just missed the muffin point shot. Then the call on Neal with the missed 4 min added bad reffing to Wash puck luck.

Easier to maintain your composure when you have the score, the bounces and the calls, of course.

I get it, it happens, just makes a SC final win feel less justly earned.
To be fair you can say Caps should have won the 1st game if Holtby was on his game. They were the better team for 2 periods and only the depth of Vegas 4th line turned the tide, but Holtby was not making saves he was supposed to. Game 3 he almost gave away with that fail puck handling, then was bailed out by his team working their asses off late in the 3rd. It's hard to separate goaltending from the team performance in general. It's a part of the effort.
