I for one would draft Connolly if he was the BPA, he said something stupid on the internet at 16. its not like he was forcing neurodivergent kids to eat candy out of a urinal.

But I understand why the Flames would be leery after Dube and Roni.

There's been rumors he's been bounced around a few schools and teams for being a pretty bad bully as well. Nothing substantiated but things pile up.

I'd take him in a heart beat if he showed some maturity and growth. But it doesn't sound promising.

The late 1st centers are interesting. Hage, Boisvert, Letourneau, Beaudoin, all have some fascinating upside.

Hage is a burner . Boisvert has all world hands in tight, Letourneau is a mongrel with slick mitts and a shot.

12. Calgary Flames: Carter Yakemchuk, RHD (Calgary, WHL)
The Flames don’t have to go far to scout Yakemchuk. At 6-foot-3 and with an incredible offensive toolkit, Yakemchuk is another high-ceiling defender who’s been busy doing a bit of everything in the WHL this year. I feel like his defensive game has taken nice strides forward, and he’s a strong skater, too. Side note: I feel like it would be too lazy just to presume the Flames would take Tij Iginla, but, hey, if it makes sense, he’d be one heck of an addition.

14. Seattle Kraken: Tij Iginla, LW (Kelowna, WHL)
Score, score and score some more. That’s what he does best. Iginla is a solid distributor, don’t get me wrong. But with the puck on his stick, he’s a dangerous generator. He plays with good pace, and while he isn’t big, he’s physically strong. Iginla would be great alongside Shane Wright in the long run.

31. Calgary Flames (via VAN): Terik Parascak, RW (Prince George, WHL)
After playing prep hockey last year, nobody could have expected Parascak to score at a 40-goal, 100-point pace as a rookie. Parascak doesn’t crumble under pressure and has the speed to thrive in major junior. His quick rise this season has caught scouts off guard, but as a late first-rounder, I can see the Flames taking a chance on someone they’ve been keeping a close eye on with good long-term potential.

The last one explains why the Flames had people at the Cougars-Rockets game.

Gotcha. I do a similar tracking spreadsheet and currently have 14 rankings. For what it's worth I've got the following around the Flames first pick:

8. Catton (avg = 7.7)

Obviously its just anecdotal but that one poster had said he ran into Jarome and asked about Tij being a flame and Jarome seemed to love it. Who knows if his opinion has changed but I am choosing to believe Jarome would love it if we draft him

I think it was TheScorpion that posted that. If I remember correctly. It’s likely good info if it did in fact come from Scorp

My guess is the Flames would like one of these 4 guys (assuming they aren't picking top 2 and Celebrini and Levshunov aren't available to them).

Think they want to build a bit of a bigger, skilled lineup, and while they aren't going to shy away from smaller players, think with Conroy's first top 10 pick he's going to want that combination of size and skill.

If I'm his parent, I'd want him to be drafted by pretty much anyone else but Calgary (well apart from Edmonton). While there is something to be said for succeeding under pressure, it would just be at an unreasonable level here, especially if he developed slowly or things went off the rails (it would be Baertschi x100). Making the NHL, as the son of a legend, isn't easy as is...the extra risk just doesn't justify the reward of a "cool story" to me.

a friend has connections with rink and when Joe was asked why #13 he said, "i'm going to be one better than my dad!"

Offensively & positionally (Catton a C, Klimchuk a LW) there really isn't any comparison.
