Flames have no cap to target anyone in the off season unless they sell now
It’s most cheap rentals that Treliving is going to do

I don't think so, If he does anything I could see BT selling some guys like he did with Glencross and Sven, way back the year we beat the Canucks in the playoffs, then adding a guy or two with term with some of the assets.

Just FYI, Duclair is expected to play his first game this Friday. So that's about a week from the trade deadline, I'm not sure that enough time for teams to evaluate where he's at.

If flames don't make playoffs they need to push on teams who are contenders who needs relatively cheap pieces, Toffoli, Lindholm, tanev etc.

Seems awfully risky to me, especially in the aftermath of Pacioretty tearing his Achilles not long after his recovery.

This won’t be happening.
Even if it were, what do you think the Flames would be looking for in return? 1st round picks? From who? The ones that are available are running a bit thin.
If the flames are moving these players, it’s going to be in the offseason and I doubt very much they do it. Even if they miss the playoffs, I think the Flames intend to compete next year.

I agree. He probably needs a month at least to get up to speed so it's going to be hard to evaluate him anyway. And Florida doesn't have any need to trade him since Hornqvist is on LTIR.
He does have a year after this left on his deal though so it's not inconceivable that a team would take a chance on him (if Florida is selling).

St.L are selling and rebuilding. I wonder if we could snag someone like Buchnevich

I’m sure we could. What’s the cost though and who do you have to beat out?
I bet it’s not cheap.

He’s injured, not worth the cost mid season.

I think he’s back.
Regardless, he’s a rental and I doubt very much Treliving goes that route unless it’s for minor cost (ie 4th round pick). The Blues should be able to get a 2nd or high 3rd for him.
I don’t think the Flames are making this type of trade this year. They did it last year with Jarnkrok and it wasn’t cheap.

Buchnevich is not a rental. He is signed for two more seasons after this one. 12 team no trade as well

For one he is not a rental, and secondly he is a vastly better player than Jarnkrok.
Buchnevich easily costs a 1st++
Edit - I see you confused him with Barbashev. That makes more sense.

I agree.
Buchnavich gets the Blues a first, probably more.

Buchnevich, Barbashev, and Burakovsky are three names I will forever mix up I think.
