A someone else mentioned, I think expansion protection is going to be a big part of these negotiations. Particularly for someone like Brodie, who for family reasons, has specific places where he wants to be.
So it may not come down to term and $ - the x-factor is expansion protection.

If the price is too high to re-sign Brodie, I would prefer that we keep out of the D market in free agency today. Pick up someone on the cheap from a team that has put itself in cap hell with a big day 1 FA signing and needs to dump salary, or from Arizona when the attempts to trade OEL with only 1 possible destination go south. Sign Hall or Markstrom and go from there.

Hoffman has been a consistent 25-30 goal and 60 pt guy. Neal is more of a 45 pt guy and his attitude sucked here.
