My closest source to the situation (which is me), says that Gaudreau will hold out until Tuesday afternoon. Expect no deal until Tuesday, October 11.

I think the Flames realize it is going to take 7m min to get this done. If Gaudreau and his agent think they can squeeze a 8m+ deal out of the Flames they are drinking paint thinner. It is not going to happen until they realize 7.2m range is max.
I personally think they are closer on salary then what the media is loosely reporting and that they are farther apart on term. Jmo.

At point does Gaudreau ask for a trade? Or at what point does the Flames say, let's deal him? Is that point close? I just don't want the Flames in a situation like Winnipeg, with Trouba(the Jets shoot themselves in the foot, when they did not trade Trouba at the draft, he had asked for a trade in May), where the player ask for a trade and pins the team into a corner.
I just hope that if the Flames sense/feel that, Gaudreau will ask for a trade, just trade him before he pins the team into corner. Because if the team is pinned into a corner like that, than the return won't be as good.

Can we please stop talking about Gaudreau asking for a trade? There are literally 0 sources indicating it is anywhere near that point. In fact, all sources say he wants to stay in Calgary long term... I don't know why it's even brought up at this point.

teams don't win trades where they give away the young star. that's why the Jets price for Trouba is astronomically high, and that's why he'll stay put, just like Drouin before him.

Circular discussion. All things repeat themselves.

Do people (namely one person) REALLY believe that if the Flames didn't have Stajan and Wideman under contract that the Flames would just be bending to Johnny's demands?
This is as much about what happens 3-5 years from now as the here and now.
If they could afford to give Johnny 8+ doesn't mean they would.

You are a Jets fan, so I will ask you this, Trouba had asked for a trade in May(Trouba and his agent were, adamant, that Trouba wants out), would the Jets not be in a better position if they traded him at the draft, where they could have a high pick, a good player and other things? Compare that to now, when he will be traded, the Jets are not going to get the same package, that they would have gotten at the draft because teams know that Trouba wants out and the Jets are in a pickle.

This is a different situation than Drouin because Drouin is a forward and with forwards, there are 6 places that Drouin can play at(6 because Drouin is a top 6 forward). Trouba is a defence man(right handed) and want to play on the first pairing on the right side and there is only one of those. And Trouba agent is Kurt Overhardt(who is responsible for holdouts and trades).
