B. Whether you think it's "laughable" that certain players are paid is irrelevant. The only relevance of those contracts is that the Flames have less money to spend now, which doesn't lead to the conclusion you are pushing - it leads to the opposite. Should they make a bad decision because of previous bad decisions (some not by this management)?
C. Monahan is paid a tiny bit more than his comps. Gio is paid less than his, arguably, and its a good bet he will be productive for almost the entirety of that contract. Gaudreau has no identical comparables given his status. He has comparables in production who had more bargaining power at the time they signed.
D. I don't think any side is overly concerned about relationships being ruined, nor is it a realistic danger, but even if it was - it's a two-way street. If that's a risk Gaudreau should think about coming down as much as the Flames should think about moving up.

Monahan is paid about 5 percent more than his comparables, it is not an awful contract.
If Johnny was paid 5 percent more than his comparable (Tarasenko) he would come in around 7.75 million a year. Any way you cut it with Gaudreau the Monahan comparables are not the Gaudreau comparables. Less than 7 Million a year would be a massive discount by Johnny if there was term attached.
Gio did not have a tonne of comparables, not many 33 year old dmen sign long term contracts for top dollar. He is the 10th highest paid dman in the NHL and he comes close to top 10 in scoring, he may be close to a top 10 dman in the league.

Except it's widely believed Tarasenko is already at an inflated deal. So it would be inflation on inflation were it 5% above that.

Think it's too dismissive to just label him a troll. Maybe in the loosest sense he is, but the guy truly believes Johnny Gaudreau is the special player of special players. It's hard to break that much respect, it's hard to break that much...love.

Any of us should be so lucky as to get that respect after just two seasons of fairly high-level performance.

Credit to the troll then. He knows exactly what buttons to push to induce reactions.

I've just spoken with my sources close to the situation and they have confirmed for me that the time is close to 3:30 Eastern Standard Time.

Step 1: Sign up to Calgary puck
Step 2: Make post critical of flames player or Flames organization
Step 3: Sit back and enjoy.

You can't even prove if that is true or not, therefor I don't believe you.

Statement.
I find that some youth have a misguided sense of entitlement, which clouds their understanding of worth.

Hmmm Flash, not sure that your sources are reliable. My sources suggest that it's actually closer to 2:30 Eastern Standard Time, and that the time you are referring to is in fact Eastern Daylight Time.

Just got word from a source close to the situation that Brad is only willing to pay Johnny +$7M if he eats all of his vegetables.
Johnny is digging in, wants his skittles first.

I got faith in Brad, Johnny and the flames are in a situation where no matter the contract they will be setting the bar for a RFA with nearly no rights in the CBA. They both want term but that's going to be costly to buy UFA years. It's easy from where I am sitting to see anything less than 7.5 per is a perfect, especially at 8 years. If it's 6 years it better be below 7. I do get the purpose in a potential Gio cap, but if Gaudreau's contract surpasses that in length than Gaudreau quickly becomes our cornerstone player and should accordingly become the Gaudreau cap.

I bet JG would be upset, appalled, embarrassed and feel somewhat violated if he became aware of the Gaudreauvertime narrative.
