Patriots aren't winning it all this year.
Their time has come and gone. Still a very good team. Not elite.

New England was very fortunate to pull off the win. The Jets dominated in almost every category. The difference was red zone offence. The Jets have to learn how to finish drives.
Glad we finally had a decent Thursday night game. Next Thursday should be a good one as well.

Jay Glazer is reporting that Percy Harvin has been traded to the Jets for a conditional draft pick.

Wonder what the story is there. S good as Baldwin is, he is still only a 2/3 guy. Seahawks don't have a top receiver now

So is it that Harvin is a pain in the ass or just damaged goods?

Harvin was dealt for two reasons: One, his cap hit going forward and the fact they have many other guys who need to be locked up. Two, his growing reputation as being a bad locker room guy. Of course that'll play perfectly for the Jets.
Now the Seahawks will be fine as they made the Super Bowl last year with Harvin barely contributing (and as great as he was in the Super Bowl, they still would have won if he didn't play). But trading for him was a horrible mistake, could have had Corderelle Patterson on his rookie deal for 3 more years (plus a 3rd and a 7th). Thankfully for their fans they have a great team and already have overcome it. But it was a terrible trade.

Maybe but you can't reverse it so you might as well cut your losses and move on. Not easy to admit you made a mistake this bad.

A surprise about Harvin. Sounds like he has had some run ins with teammates, maybe taking himself out of the Cowboys game.
Some teammates like Lynch and Irvin are not happy at all.
While it can be argued that he didn't need to make those plays in the Superbowl, if Smith didn't get two turn overs himself, Harvin may have won the MVP. His early jet sweep had the Broncos shell shocked, his second one also had no reply, and any sort of comeback hope or feeling over halftime was kicked in the bits 12 seconds into the second half... those were all demoralizing plays to Denver which can't fully be measured by stats.
But, whatever the case, Seattle cut losses fairly quickly and dramatically, better then trying to nurture a peice that wasn't going to fit long term, especially given the money he makes.
On the positive side, maybe Bevell and Wilson can get back to regular play calling and not assuming Harvin can get 40 yards on every play. The offense was atrocious last weekend and a big part was them going back to Harvin time and again when the Cowboys had sniffed that out early and consistently.

That's really not an accurate assessment of the Super Bowl at all. Harvin's jet sweeps didn't shell-shock the Broncos. That already happened on the first play of the game.
The defense was unprepared and didn't execute and frankly it didn't really matter what plays the Seahawks called, they weren't going to lose that game the way the Broncos were (or weren't) executing.
Harvin had one catch for 5 yards in the super bowl. That's it. Talk about a non-factor. His kick return occurred after the outcome was already decided and that had nothing to do with the Broncos D since it was the ST on the field.
The Seahawks had no trouble getting to the Super Bowl without Harvin and were wise to cut him loose when they did. He's overrated, overpaid and overhyped and the offense will probably do better since they aren't going to have to go out of their way to invent ways to get him the football anymore.
Not to mention he was a cancer who gave Golden Tate a black eye the day of the Super Bowl. They'll be much better off without him and his insane cap hit.

So Golden Tate likely is still a Sea hawk if they didn't have Harvin. That one will hurt, but you have to recognize your mistakes and act on them quickly. The Seahawks probably won't miss him

Reports this morning that the Seahawks were trying to acquire Julius Thomas or Jordan Cameron for Harvin. I guess you can't blame them for trying but laughter must have ensued.

Take away all the negative that has come out recently and it wouldn't have been a bad deal for the Browns (they need a playmaker), make no sense for the Broncos.

That's pretty bad for the Browns. Jordan Cameron is one of the better upcoming TE's in the league and they are due to get Gordon back in week 12 so they really aren't desperate for a playmaker. They know they arent going to win this week

Probably not. He was wanting to get paid and talked about that well before the Superbowl week. There was also rumors at the time (again, before Superbowl week) that he was messing around with some players wife. So he was out of Seattle regardless.
Without Okung and Wagner, Seattle's defense looking pretty tepid again today...Rams running it far too easily, and then picking on the 3rd string corner. Down 14-3 currently.
Wilson (today, and, last week) once again looks to have reverted into the indecisive player he was for a large part of last year making some bad choices on throws, and without his safety valve in Miller.
Man is it quiet in St. L...maybe the oft told rumors about them moving to LA has some legs (given the owner's real estate holdings in LA), the 1-4 record doesn't help, nor does the lease situation there but you'd figure it was week 15, not 7.
