Tired of this ####. Do some actual research before spouting the NDP and teachers union garbage.

Alberta Education, also known as Alberta's Ministry of Education, is the governing body for Alberta's schools. Alberta's students are touted as the highest-ranked in Canada and its education system is often cited as one of the best in the world.

Alberta Education Spending 2024/25 budget is $9.6B and increase of 4.4% over fiscal year 2023/24.

2023/24 budget increased 5.42% over 2022/23.

Alberta has the third highest spend on education by province in Canada, with the 2 larger ones being Ontario and Quebec that have at least twice the population of Alberta.

Never saw someone bootlick so hard for the “we should teach children the good things Nazis did in equal measure to the bad” government.

Where are you getting your figures? According to the 2023–2024 budget, the UCP plan to spend $8.836 billion on operating expenses within the ministry of education. Of that, $6.857 billion (or about 77.6%) will be spent directly on instruction of students within early childhood programs right through to Grade 12.

Last year, the government spent $6.601 billion on ECS–Grade 12 instruction, which means they’re increasing funding by 3.88%. The UCP chose to increase education spending at only ~ 1/2 of inflation over the last two years. Further, they cut several grant programs targeted at assisting schools with overcapacity. Finally, they continue a longstanding tradition of underfunding school infrastructure in the province.

I don't think they were being critical of spending on education in the province. Perhaps it is you who should do some research on what changes to education the UCP has pushed through in 2023. https://www.alberta.ca/curriculum

A large lead we built in the the last 20 years over basically everywhere else on earth is waning considerably when you look at reading and math achievement levels, for example. Here's a 2022 article by noted UCP shill David Staples talking about it:L https://edmontonjournal.com/opinion/...ath-illiterate

In Alberta, the cost of private schools is quite a bit higher than university tuition, more than double.

Whoever starts talking politics in the actual hockey threads should get a week in the sin bin. It's exhausting.

I speculate that Smith is getting traded for Nenshi, and I'd put that at a the-rasta-masta level rumour.

Sorry everyone. Enoch, Jay Random, if JR promises to act like he has a human smile can you guys pick back up the argument over replacement level players? Someone mentioned the UCP and it’s ruining everyone’s day.

Y'all I get it, but I am not letting someone start with obvious misrepresentation of facts to try and score a political winner. Never will. But I am sorry for being compelled to do it in this holy trade thread.

Now, can we talk about how Mark Jankowski is going to be a star in the NHL?

Curriculums are changed all the time. This is nothing new.

Anyhow, Alberta students are given a 2% bump to their grades when they apply to UBC. Because our curriculum is considered more rigorous than theirs. And they really, really like Alberta students - they recruit them hard.

You are definitely allowed to read a post, know that it's dumb, and just continue on without replying.

It's really quite easy.

Sorry for bringing up schools.. I should have known better.

On that note, there’s a lot of excitement for Penticton this weekend.
Parekh had only 2 weeks off, he’s been training harder than ever in effort to impress for the big club. It’s unbelievable how dedicated this kid is to honing his craft and trying to improve, I’m still absolutely stoked we got him at 9.

Roster is set as I previously stated, Craig will go into pre-season with what we have and reevaluate around the 10 game mark.

I feel like the Barrie PTO is there to push some young guys to make it, there’s definitely 1 spot available for about 5-6 guys including Brusz, Parekh, Solovyov, Grushnekov as the young guys.

Biggest question mark is that top 6 and who’s going to fit with who.
Likely see Kadri with the kids again(Zary/Pospisil), they all loved playing together and we’re very affective. Also who slides into the vacant “3M” line with Backlund and Coleman.

Does Coronato find a way into the top 6? Craig wants him there, but there’s lots of competition.

Should be a fun few weeks here!

Kadri with Zary and Pospisil
Huberdeau with Sharangovich and Mantha
Backlund Coleman and Coronato (with PP time for Coronato)
4th line wide open

I think that is the top 9 for me.

That seems like the way it could go, unless they want to try out Zary at C during the pre-season.

Sharangovich-Kadri-Kuzmenko
Huberdeau-Zary-Mantha

Pospisil at 4LC?

Pelletier/Lomberg-Pospisil-Klapka
