I agree 100%

we need to find a spot for Dube to flourish, not trade him for a rental. And he seems to fit really well with Backlund and Tkachuk.

I don't think he's a top pair type in any way shape or form. But he's 32, has 840+ games played, is 225 pounds and played for the team who won the last two cups before this season, and makes 850k per year.

There are a lot of teams who would love to add him as either one of the top 6 guys or as insurance for a playoff run who'll pay at least a third round pick to do so.

If Treliving makes another deal(s) I imagine a contract(s) goes the other way. Some non-playoff teams are looking for warm bodies to ride out the season.

Am I nuts for thinking we really don't need a depth defenseman? Stone/Valimaki/Mackey is perfectly fine depth to me. Nobody in the top 6 deserves to come out.

That 4th line is a more pressing need. Someone taking Monahan's contract would be most ideal of course.

I don’t think we need a top 6er but a cheap depth dman for a late pick wouldn’t hurt. Stone is fine but has barely played this year, and Valimaki and Mackey have been in the A all year and might be apart of a deep playoff run down in Stockton. I’d argue even Kevin Gravel might be an ok call up option if things get really thin. But a deal similar to the Hagg deal wouldn’t hurt IMO
