Might be getting to the point where a change of scenery needs to be tried.
Perfect timing, Brodie for Nylander, get it done Tre!

Nylander + and maybe another +. Hes good and what I dream of having for a RW but he has some things to work on.

No plus needed, take it and run. Sure he has things to work on but the talent is there and you get rid of a guy that is a negative 70 games a year on your back end. I did some serious looking at the Canes as I am sure many of us have and Brodie is going to kill us if Peters brings the same approach to coaching here.

Bulk deal. Find a way to grab O'Reilly, Nylander, Lehner.

Covers all the needs as I see them.

Preparing to duck knives over Lehner.

What about Nylander for Bennett and save Brodie for another transaction?

I don't like it. If Nylander does not pan out as an offensive top six winger he is useless. If Bennett does not pan out as a top six forward he can still be a good checking forward.

I think you bring in a Nylander to work with Bennett and Janko. Thats where I would slot him in.

Bring in Kasperi Kapanen for the top line and I think I'd be really happy.

How about Brodie+Bennett for ror+nylander?

The issue for me is that I just don't think that Brodie has high trade value at this stage. Such deals would require Hamilton not Brodie to get done...

Probably which is a no go from where I stand. I would want a young cost controlled player for Hamilton or better yet we keep him. If the Leafs offered Marner I would be on board.

Brodie + Fox's rights might sweeten a deal from Buffalo's perspective especially if O'Reilly is involved

Yup completely agree. Marner is likely not going anywhere, hes been arguably the leafs best forward this playoffs.

I know it wouldn't be popular, but i would love to some how, pry kadri from the leafs. I still have high hopes that Bennett's trajectory is similar to kadri.

No way you get ROR included for Brodie & Fox.

Its a starting point. A potential franchise D in Fox, a (maybe) top pairing D in Brodie for a centre with a high cap hit and a ton of years left who is looking to get out? They don't hang up. Doesn't get a deal done on its own, no but it gets the conversation started.

Deserved or not Fox now has a reputation in trade scenarios after going back to Harvard this season (and it's certainly not "potential franchise D-man"), his highest trade value was last off season, now a team that picks him up knows he has literally one hockey season before he decides whether he'll test free agency with a proclamation of going back for his forth year.

And even though most Flames fans don't share my opinion, I feel he's basically already made that decision this April, as if you go back for your third year at Harvard of course you're going all the way.

So we should throw Fox into a trade to sweeten the pot, imo, so we don't lose him for nothing, but he's not the sweetener he was and most certainly not a focal point in a trade.

Definitely do not think Fox's trade value has dropped at all after he decided to go back to Harvard rather than sign a contract. He's still a 50/50 player for the Flames. You could possibly just do a straight swap for A.Nylander. Any team in NY state would take Fox IMO. Instead of 50/50 chance he signs with CGY, it grows to at least 80% in his home state.

We can self assess any trade value to a player we want but values vary on each individual player for 31 teams.

EDIT: And I had always believed Fox was going 4 full years at Harvard. It's Harvard. That piece of paper has great value.

Agreed on different values for different teams, but disagree with Buffalo being that high. They're a terrible hockey club that was supposed to be on it's way up by now. Fox would likely prefer the NE, but still, if he have his pick in one season he'll take his pick.

A young, rebuilding team that plays right in Manhattan would be my choice if I were him.
