I didn't mind Garrett when he did Flames games. I thought he did a good job of staying as unbiased as possible and was professional.

I like Garrett.
As other's have said, he's like a kind of goofy uncle and grandpa that's a homer in an innocent way.
I think colour commentators are going the direction of analytics and stat guys now, but I enjoy the ones that are just enjoyable like they're watching the game with you and adding a bit of levity to the viewing experience.

Have you guys every heard Phil Esposito do color for Tampa? OMG the homerism is over the top. He basically just complains between whistles about the refs.

His Bio reads : Rob Simpson has covered the NHL in five different decades. He’s authored 4 books on hockey and is a veteran TV and radio play-by-play man and reporter.
I agree it was very blog like ,but it's the tactics that are questionable ,and unprofessional .

It's a one sided article. The tactics stated are coming from a blog that was written by a 'professional' sports writer that reads anything but professional.
Consider the source and look for verification.

Definitely no good. Just tell him what the Canucks don’t like. Does Sportsnet control the message that much?
It does make me laugh at staples though. Staples has even less access than this guy, but acts like he’s in the Oilers inner circle.

He tiptoes around it through his article. Like, as an example, yelling at Dan Murphy "When are you guys going to get an actual good guest" after an interview hit is probably not going to go over well with anyone, team or otherwise.
And yes, I would imagine the biggest single media entity around the Canucks may have some say on who is in the room if that guy is being a twatcicle.

No argument. I also found some of his little jabs to people to be odd. If the situation is stated in a reduced manner by the writer, then they are even worse in real life. Not a good look.
I just think that the Canucks should tell him why and maybe he could rehab himself? If not…he is done.

Honest question, was he as bad as the pairs up north?

Fan favourite, Kuzmenko is refusing to wear the Pride colours tonight citing a "family decision".

Nice PR spin. The Russian excuse is also so pathetic, somehow other Russians have worn the jersey. Bigot does bigot things.

He didn't mention Russian anywhere though... Simply that it was a family decision. I agree it's lame, just pointing out nowhere did he mention it was due to him being Russian.

Their fans are making that excuse for him. The russians who have not worn the jersey have not been piled on. Reimer is the only one who got rightfully dragged in the media. The Russians generally get a pass. Putin is not killing families because of them wearing a rainbow jersey. “Family decision” is a nice PR spin because it leaves room for that interpretation, like they are actually in any danger. Bigot family, bigot player.
Edit: poor choice of words.
